Nitrogen and potassium, which one is the first choice for fruit swelling?

Nitrogen and potassium are important sources of nutritional supplements for crops during their growth. Paying attention to the reasonable application of nitrogen and potassium can make crops grow more luxuriantly.

Generally speaking, during the fruit swelling period, fruit farmers will apply nitrogen and potassium to supplement the nutrition of the fruit. So which one is the first choice for fruit swelling, nitrogen or potassium?

1. Applying nitrogen to expand fruit

Nitrogen fertilizer mainly promotes the expansion of the spongy body between the peels, and cannot make the fruit full of seeds.

The demand for nitrogen of fruit trees depends on the tree vigor, fertilization level and rainfall conditions. When the tree vigor is good and the fertilization level is high, if there is a year with sufficient rainfall, the demand for nitrogen during the fruit swelling period is not very large, especially for some varieties that have strict requirements on the fruit size. Even less nitrogen should be applied to avoid too many super-large fruits and affect the economic value.

At the same time, if fruit farmers only apply nitrogen, it is very likely that the fruit will not be full enough, and it will also cause a variety of problems such as vigorous growth of plants in the later stage and the fruit will not be colored.

2. Applying potassium to expand fruit

The single application of potassium has no obvious effect on the swelling of fruits. Potassium plays an important role in enzyme activity, cell division, photosynthesis, photosynthetic product transport and osmotic regulation. It directly participates in the accumulation of fruit sugar and increases the sugar content of the fruit. Therefore, it plays a greater role in coloring, sweetening, improving quality and increasing yield of fruits.

In fact, fruit trees need a variety of nutrients during their growth.

During the young fruit expansion period, we can apply an appropriate amount of nitrogen to promote growth and provide nutrition for young fruits; and potassium needs to be supplemented in time after the fruit trees set fruits. Nitrogen and potassium are important nutritional supplements at different stages of fruit tree growth, and their roles complement each other.
