Nissan "Towncar"

In November of 1981 I began my computer consulting career. It was also the first year of ten years of instruction in Computer Science. Those first couple of years were all about the BASIC programming language. Then some Spreadsheets (Lotus 1-2-3) and RDBMS (relational database management systems). I also taught several Continuing Ed courses for Kent State University at Trumball and Tuscarawas campus. So yeah, I am a techie.

Love That Chart

So you have to love that chart, right?

It is from an mobile app called LEAFspy for analysis of the Nissan LEAF EV. In this case, mine, which is an "S" model according to CarFax.

So why do I call it Towncar?

First, let me say I got a great buy on it. It is almost like new when in fact it is a 2013 with over 58,000 miles. Sorry to say it is white. Out 33 cars I have owned, 6 have been white, plus the Tesla Model X I leased for four months and I do NOT like white cars. But each of them were a great deal.

But the reason for this deal was the battery has lost over half its capacity. Originally it would do about 75 miles where today, it is 36 miles on a good day.Turn the heater or air conditioner on and lose at least 5 miles!

Hence the nickname: Towncar

Having owned it for about 45 days (over my wife's initial objections), it is great for running uptown to the bank, or the YMCA, or to grab a bite to eat or even buy what groceries we can afford (we are DEFINITELY worse off after almost four years).

Range anxiety? Not in the least! It saves us over 50% the normal costs of running those errands in our white Jeep Wrangler Sport.
