Nissan has cancelled production of its premium Infiniti models in Sunderland, putting 250 jobs at risk. The Japanese carmaker will cease production of the Infiniti brand by July amid plans to withdraw from Western Europe. Last month, Nissan announced its X-Trail model will be made in Japan instead of its Sunderland plant as originally planned. The Sunderland plant, which employs almost 7,000 people, will still produce the new Qashqai, which accounts for more than half of the 450,000 vehicles made at the site annually. ? Britain's Parliament has once again voted against Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal. The body will now vote today on leaving the EU without a deal. Should that vote fail, Parliament will then decide whether to postpone Brexit beyond the March 29 deadline. May had hoped last-minute changes to her deal — which the EU agreed to earlier this week — would lead members to support the proposal. Frustrated EU leaders say there's “no more [the EU] can do”. ? The UK is joining aviation authorities around the world including Germany and France in grounding Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and ordering the plane out of its airspace. The moves follow the deadly crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight on Sunday — the second fatal accident involving the 737 MAX since October. Boeing insists it has “full confidence in the safety of the Max” but will issue a software update. The US Federal Aviation Authority has said the model is "still airworthy." ? The Early Learning Centre is set for a high street comeback. Owner Mothercare will sell the brand to rival The Entertainer in a £13.5m deal, in a bid to slash its debt levels. Troubled retailer Mothercare said it did not have the “necessary capital, resources or scale” to nurture the Early Learning Centre brand, once known for its wooden train sets and shape sorters. Mothercare narrowly avoided going bust last year, prompting a restructure and store closures. ? Here’s what people are saying.

More than 3,500 bankers in the UK are paid more than £850,000 (€1m) per year, the European Banking Association has revealed. In a report, the EBA said that thirty UK bankers were paid more than €10m each, and in one case a single asset manager banked €40.9m. It also revealed that the UK was home to 73% of all millionaire bankers across Europe, with nine times more in the country compared to Germany and 15 times more than in France. ? Idea of the Day: It may be instinctive to look at how others are performing, but Australian Diamonds captain Caitlin Bassett tells LinkedIn the trick is not to compare yourself.

“Everyone's journey is different. You might be starting your chapter at chapter one, while someone is at chapter 20 of their life.”

The decision was not to stop production but to pull ALL of Infiniti out of Europe resulting in no further production requirements at Sunderland for one model. Why? Major corporate issues at the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi group, lack of sales and products poorly adjusted to the European market. Not Brexit. Automotive is spending enormous amounts of money on electrification because that is what customers are looking for and what governments are pushing for. Consolidation is the current trend.
