Nippon Paint Ponders the Future: Innovation for a Sustainable World
Nippon Paint Group held its Global Annual Technology & Innovation Conference in Tokyo, Japan from May 29th to 31st. More than 500 technical experts from 16 countries attended the conference, both physically and virtually, to discuss pioneering new technologies and strategies in the evolving global landscape.
The theme was "Open up with New Era of Innovation." With global climate change posing increasing challenges, green and low-carbon transformation has become a universal priority. To effectively tackle these challenges, collaboration is essential. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation, and other advanced technologies will drive breakthrough innovations and promote sustainable development.
Cutting-Edge Technologies to Drive the Future Development of the Coatings Industry
Nippon Paint’s global technical experts showcased their latest innovations across diverse fields, from architectural coatings, high-performance coatings, industrial coatings, marine coatings and advanced materials. The highlights included AI-powered colour matching solutions, all waterborne coating systems for Auto Refinish (AR), high-reflected exterior paints to reduce urban heat, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculation systems. These innovations aim to spark future breakthroughs across a broader range of areas for Nippon Paint Group.
Mr. Wee Siew Kim, Group Chief Executive Officer of NIPSEA Group and Director, Representative Executive Officer & Co-President of Nippon Paint Holdings Group, reaffirmed that focusing on innovation is essential to Nippon Paint Group. It will bring highly differentiated products to enhance the Group’s growth. Embracing technology transformation will better position us in the emerging market. Explore Innovation through embracing Green Development
To foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem, the conference invited various stakeholders, including research institutes, industry customers, and partners to discuss the future of green development in the industry. Professor Yoshihiro Kawahara from the University of Tokyo (UoT) stated that UoT and Nippon Paint have enjoyed a long history of cooperation since 2020 and made great achievements. The two parties will further explore how AI can advance the coatings industry in the future.
