Nippon Paint China Earns Excellence in Patent Management
Nippon Paint China excelled in the patent demonstration evaluated by Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration in China, earning an “Excellent” rating for its exceptional performance in advance innovation and patent management within the industry.
Since 2021, Nippon Paint held the title of "Shanghai Patent Demonstration Enterprise". In this period of time, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration evaluated the company across six innovation and intellectual property aspects: (1) Patent management, (2) Patent strategy, (3) Patent information database, (4) Patent exploitation, (5) Patent talent cultivation and (6) Patent protection. Nippon Paint's work in constructing and implementing intellectual property management system was recognised by the industry peers and experts.
Leveraging its global innovation resources, Nippon Paint China has developed its patent strategy and optimised its patent management system. By offering diverse training programmes for employees across various positions and departments, this approach has achieved a remarkable 90% completion rate and substantially increased the patent awareness among employees. Additionally, Nippon Paint further strengthens its intellectual property management through patent database building, patent transaction and patent enforcement.
In 2023, Nippon Paint China was awarded the “Intellectual Property Management System” certification. As of end of 2023, Nippon Paint China has accumulated over 1,700 patent applications, with more than 900 granted patents*. This achievement solidifies its leadership in standardised and effective Intellectual Property management.
