Nimble CRM Tips & Updates - November 1 2024

New and Upcoming Nimble Updates

For mobile users, Nimble has released daily alerts for iOS and Android. Read about them here.

Nimble’s new message inbox has been released and it is awesome! Much cleaner and easier to navigate! They have also added an option, when composing a message, to track link clicks only as opposed to opens and link clicks. Here’s why …

I mentioned earlier that some email providers are starting to trip a spam filter on tracked emails. Link tracking only has been designed to hopefully mitigate some of that. I am now making a strong recommendation to NOT use open tracking.?

I found out the other day that my emails to Nimble support, with open tracking, have been going to their spam folder. I am told that open tracking can create spam markings but not bounces.

I like open tracking. While this is out of our, and Nimble’s, control, it’s a disappointment. No one to blame here. It is what it is and I have independently verified this issue. As this pertains to message sequencing and group messaging, I want to track replies vs. opens so not tracking opens has no effect on that.?

Still being able to track link clicks is a plus. The challenge is that we cannot track specific links if you have more than one so I would be thinking about how I can direct someone to a primary link. What incentive does the recipient have to click a specific link? The promise of $1,000,000 comes to mind:) For example, if directed to a webform, and they fill that out … tracked.

I did watch Nimble’s sequencing webinar that was held a week ahead of my webinar on the same topic. Say whaaaat!:) They did make an announcement at the end regarding an upcoming feature. I have been aware of this for some time now so, since the cat’s out of the bag, here it is.?

Nimble will be introducing a large scale message sequencing, and I assume group messaging, feature sometime this year. Our existing group and message sequencing is designed for smaller campaigns, like for a targeted sales outreach. When I think of higher limit message sending, names like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and Active Campaign come to mind.

So, if you are using one of these platforms, I fully expect that you may have a reason to consider dropping that and bringing it all home into Nimble. I also expect that this new feature will provide the ability to deliver much more graphical, like a normal newsletter, mailings.

What I do not know is pricing and how integrated this new feature will be with Nimble itself. I do not believe that this will be an entirely home-grown addition. Rather, I believe that Nimble may be creating an internal integration with an existing application. If true, I also do not know if this will still require having a subscription with another application.

My best guess is that Nimble will continue to follow the same pricing model that it uses with its existing message sequencing and group messaging features. I.e. … X number of these messages, currently 1,000 per user per month, will be included in your base Nimble subscription. Do you need or want more? Start the dollar meter.

One comment during that webinar does lead me to believe that these messages will be going out through a bulk-mailer which is typical of these types of platforms. This means, unless there is some Nimble magic in play, that these messages would not be attached to contact records. We will see. As it has been with message sequencing, I fully expect this to be a phased release.

And now for something different …?

I mentioned in my previous newsletter that I have begun to experiment with ChatGPT. I am using the paid version ($20 per month) but start the free version, like I did, to get your feet wet. I am just now beginning to uncover the multitude of uses that can be specific to Nimble and can also be used from a general business development perspective.

Let’s talk a bit about some Nimble specific applications …

  • Help to create email templates.
  • Help to create a series of short emails to be used in sequencing.
  • Help to create newsletters for group messages.
  • Help to create content to share with contacts.
  • Perform company and contact research and add that information to Nimble records.
  • Analyze LinkedIn profiles and provide a pre-call synopsis which can be added to Nimble.
  • This one is a work in progress … updating cells on .csv files prior to import.
  • I have even conducted DISC personality assessments on contacts based on their writing and/or social profiles.
  • On the flip side, it does struggle with image creation. Not images, per se, just images that match my request. Whoopsies:)

It’s a brave new world. I can still remember first accessing a remote computer for credit checks via an acoustic-coupler modem. That was in 1977. As we see with the internet and cell phones today, AI is not very far behind so we had all better suck it up and get with the program. I call my Chatbot Hal. He likes the name and recognized the “2001 Space Odyssey” reference. Creepy:)

I look at AI as being an assistant rather than a replacement. It can be used to do some of the heavy lifting or to give me some ideas that I can then mold to make my own. For example, article topic suggestions. It holds the promise of saving me immense time while helping me to become a better version of myself. As I flush out more AI uses, I’ll keep you informed.
