Tencent Games has announced that it will launch Pokémon Unite in mainland China on November 7, 2024. The game received a license in December 2022 with the first closed test for the game running in August 2023. Tencent has continued to test the game over the past year and has made a number of changes, primarily revolving around gameplay and quality of life fixes, which differentiates it from the global version. The title has achieved over 23 million pre-registrations to date and will include 48 Pokémon in the game at launch as well as Chinese opera themed skins. Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play strategy MOBA game developed by its TiMi Studio Group in collaboration with The Pokémon Company.??

China boosted Valorant Champions 2024 viewership compared to 2023?
The Valorant Champions 2024 esports tournament peaked at 9.1 million viewers during its final on August 25, 2024, a 5x increase from the 1.8 million peak viewers in 2023. Fans in China accounted for 80% of viewership and were the primary driver behind the increase. A major factor in the surge was the success of Chinese team EDward Gaming, who won the tournament after defeating Team Heretics in the grand final. The tournament's location in South Korea also played a role in boosting viewership, as the one-hour time difference made it convenient for Chinese fans to follow the matches live. This contrasts with 2023, when the event was held in Los Angeles, resulting in a 15-hour time difference that limited Chinese audience engagement. Finally, 2024 was the first full year that China participated in the Valorant esports scene after the game launched in the country in 2023. The game recently surpassed 1 million peak concurrent players in the country. Niko Partners research shows that Valorant Mobile recently concluded a beta test on October 15, indicating that the game is close to launch.?
