Nike Is Still Teens’ Favorite Brand — But These Hot Brands Are Catching Up

ON

Nike is still the hottest brand among younger shoppers, but other up-and-coming competitors are climbing the ranks.

That’s according to the 9,193 U.S. teens who responded to Piper Sandler’s 46th semi-annual survey this spring. According to the results, Nike earned the top spots for footwear and apparel in the survey that ranked teen’s favorite brands and websites. Nike also earned the top spots for footwear and apparel preferences in Piper Sandler’s spring survey from April and the survey from the prior fall.

Other brands gaining speed: Crocs and the Crocs-owned Hey Dude brands also saw momentum, nabbing the sixth and seventh top spots in footwear, respectively. On and Hoka, two fast-growing running shoe brands, earned the eighth and thirteenth slots among footwear brands for teens, respectively. Both brands jumped from their placements in the list from spring.

Zoom out: In recent quarters, Nike has outlined a goal to grow its business in the increasingly competitive running category after the footwear giant?has lost share?to smaller, running-focused brands like?Hoka, Brooks and On, all three of which have found success with their niche perfomance offerings.

Footwear companies with a presence in Israel are speaking out following Hamas terrorists’ devastating attacks on the country over the weekend.

What happened: On Saturday morning, Hamas launched an invasion through the border of Gaza, killing and injuring hundreds of men, women and children in Israel and taking close to 150 hostages back into Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war with Hamas and launched a wave of counterattacks on Gaza. As of Monday, according to ABC News, at least 900 people had died in Israel, with more than 2,300 more injured by Hamas. In Gaza, Palestinian authorities said 560 people had been killed and 2,900 had been injured from retaliatory attacks.

As the conflict continues to unfold, some footwear brands and organizations released statements about their employees’ status and how they’re grappling with the effects of the situation.

Israeli footwear maker?Naot has a factory located in Northern Israel, far from most of the violent events that occurred throughout the weekend. Still, the team was far from unscathed, according to Naot’s U.S. president Ayelet Lax Levy. She confirmed to FN that the entire “Naot family and team are all physically accounted for” though many have friends who are missing, have died or been called for active reserve duty in the Israeli Defense Forces.
