Nike Basketball Keeps Getting Better
Nike's roster of greats came together at the 2023 Nike World Basketball Festival to celebrate the future of the game and all who love it.

Nike Basketball Keeps Getting Better

There’s no better month for playing, watching and loving basketball than October. The WNBA just crowned a champion (congrats, back-to-back champs Aces), the NBA is kicking off and college hoops is right around the corner. Nike Basketball is in the middle of it all, bringing the soul of the game to players and fans with pinnacle products and more opportunities to play, and celebrating the cultural influence that only basketball has. Here's how.

1) Increasing Access for All

Basketball is an art form. And art is for everybody. In September, the 2023 Nike World Basketball Festival celebrated the past, present and future of the game at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. 2) Designing for the Game’s Elites

Our signature roster is unmatched. From the greatest players in the world to rising stars who are breaking barriers, we partner with the world’s best. The latest addition to the signature family: Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker. His debut shoe, the Nike Book 1, was designed with classic Nike style in mind and to perform at the game’s highest level. "Early on, we landed on the phrase ‘future classic,’” says Booker about the Book 1. “The goal was to create something that would be timeless.”

3) Furthering the King’s Legacy

A lot has changed in the last two decades. What hasn’t: the undeniability of LeBron James, who at 38 years old is still adding to his game. His latest shoe, the LeBron XXI, evolves the low-cut model of the XX to help LeBron keep going strong. Find out how: https://about.nike.com/en/newsroom/releases/lebron-21-official-images

LeBron XXI lead designer Jason Petrie says the team wanted to retain the elements of the XX that they knew LeBron loved, like a Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot, while refining the upper for a better fit.

4) Releasing Timeless Retros

The holidays are all about cultivating a sense of gratitude — oh, and copping the Air Jordan XI Gratitude. Check out the new wave of Jordan Brand retros releasing this holiday season, such as the Air Jordan III Fear, the Air Jordan XII Cherry and more: https://about.nike.com/en/newsroom/collections/jordan-brand-retro-collection-holiday-2023

5) Giving Local Basketball Communities A Space to Thrive

Nike Basketball sees the court as the beating heart of a basketball community, and nowhere is this more true than the Philippines. To help grow and expand the game for the nation’s next generation, Nike opened “The Courtyard,” an outdoor court in Metro Manila that gives the area year-round access to hoop together: https://about.nike.com/en/newsroom/releases/courtyard-basketball-court-manila-philippines

6) Memorializing a Nike Basketball Legend

The late, great Kobe Bryant pushed Nike Basketball to think boldly about tech-packed footwear, and the Kobe Protro line — short for “Performance Retro" — updates Kobe's beloved models with modern technology. Enter the newest silhouette in the Protro lineup: the Kobe 8 Protro Halo, with a triple-white colorway that pays homage to the basketball legend. https://about.nike.com/en/newsroom/releases/nike-kobe-8-protro-halo-official-images

7) Launching a Signature Collection for One of the Game’s Best

New York Liberty point guard Sabrina Ionescu has had a season for the ages, and on the heels of being officially welcomed to the Nike Basketball signature family with her Sabrina 1 shoe. 10) Speaking a Universal Language

Powering every inch of culture, basketball is a game that's influenced all of us in some way. And although we all experience hoops differently, there’s one common language to bind us all. And it all starts with a single word: check. Watch Nike Basketball's latest brand anthem, "Only Basketball." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9fsOaa97F4
