NIH Blueprint MedTech: Accelerating Development of Transformative Medical Devices to Improve Brain Health
National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)
Our mission is to seek knowledge about the brain and nervous system and reduce the burden of neurological disease.
Innovators developing groundbreaking medical device technologies face a number of challenges along the translational path from bench to bedside. NIH Blueprint MedTech is an incubator program from the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research that aims to address such challenges. This unique and resourceful program supports innovators by providing non-dilutive funding and additional support resources to accelerate the development of medical devices to diagnose and treat neurological disorders.?
The Blueprint MedTech program is structured in two main components: 1) Blueprint MedTech Incubator, to provide funding to refine and mature products with a viable proof of concept (e.g., a proven 'deviceable target' in animal models) ; and 2) Blueprint MedTech Translator, to provide funding to prepare for and perform first-in-human studies of safety and efficacy. ?
The Blueprint MedTech program has made significant strides in accelerating patient access to groundbreaking, safe, and effective medical devices.
