At the 95th Academy Awards, the Telugu-language song NaatuNaatu created history by winning the Best Original Song category. This popular song is from the movie RRR, and it was written by Chandrabose and composed by M MKeeravaani. NaatuNaatu’s victory at the Oscars marks the first time that a song from an Indian-made film has ever won an award at the prestigious ceremony.

Despite tough competition from some renowned names like Diane Warren’s Applause from Tell It Like A Woman, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun Maverick, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther Wakanda Forever, and Ryan Lott’s This is a Life from Everything Everywhere All At Once, NaatuNaatu emerged as the winner. During his acceptance speech, MM Keeravani sang on stage and concluded with a namaste.

India’s ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ wins Best Documentary Short?– The Elephant Whisperers, a Netflix documentary short by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga, won the Best Documentary Short category. The film was up against tough competition from Haulout, How Do You Measure a Year?, The Martha Mitchell Effect, and Stranger At The Gate. Director Gonzalves dedicated the award to ‘my motherland, India’. Guneet, in an Instagram post, wrote, “Tonight is historic as this is the first ever Oscar for an Indian production…”

Apart from ‘NaatuNaatu’ and?‘The Elephant Whisperers’?win, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ was also a big winner at the event. This film, which depicts the story of a Chinese immigrant who embarks on an epic adventure to connect different versions of herself in a parallel universe while fighting the evil forces that threaten the multiverse, won around seven Oscars.

The first award of the night was for ‘Best Animated’ film, which went to ‘Pinochhio’. Moreover, Guillermo del Toro made history by becoming the first person ever to win Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
