NIGERIANS AND Its DISTRACTED MINDS.

SO MANY NIGERIANS LIVES DAILY THINKING OF ODDS, GAMES AND AMOUNT TO STAKE IN A PARTICULAR SPORTSBET, POOLS AND BABA IJEBU. IF THIS MENTAL ENERGY ARE DIRECTED TO SOMETHING MEANINFUL THEN IT WOULD HELP ENGINEERING GROWTH IN OUR ECONOMY.

It shouldn’t surprise you that an average Nigerian are so given to the free meals especially getting it the easy way and avoiding all processes to get the desired results. Everybody wants to make money but nobody wants to works for the money , they prefer short and easy way to successes.

We have been carried away by greed and selfishness that we forget that it is more honorable to be rewarded through handwork that cutting corners to make wealth. We have pride ourselves in making wealth in a dishonorable way thinking it is the best thing to do, we sometimes use the excuse of unemployment and bad governance and government to justify our actions. In the late 60s and early 70s Nigerians were known for their hardwork and dedication, nations of the world envy us due to our dedication and hardworking altitude. Nigerians are known to be the giant of Africa, we are giant in everything we do, in education we are there, farming and other professional field of endeavors but today the reverse is the case.

The table turned around with the discovery of oil as we gradually shift our dependence on oil leaving the things we are known for. We have become distracted at the things we are known for that we are engaging in things that distract us only to bring dishonor to the name Nigerian

Nigerians love free things, they love free money everything free make sense but they forget anything free has no lasting value. It comes and go immediately. Lot of persons has made this route as source of a living without considering any other meaningful way of making a living. We are gradually transferring this act of laziness and short cut to successes to the coming generations. They are gradually emulating the perceived way of life thinking is the right way to go. A lot of kids in out of schools steals in other to make sure the are involve in this easy way of making money without minding the consequences of their actions.

The sport-bet, pool and baba ijebu industry are making a lot wealth as every person wants to catch the money in bulk without giving much efforts, the mad man and women in the street are no excluded, They give out free games and free numbers, gullible Nigerians in their quick search of money are ready to do anything to get the attention of this mad people to give them games and free numbers. The outcome and expectations of this games has take over the minds of a good number of Nigerians that they become use to this way of life

Nothing distracts one from one's true purpose in life more than following the crowd mentality. Edmond Mbiaka

Our society is gradually deteriorating to state where nobody want to get engage in something meaningful. Those who sit down forecasting games for a whole day should have use that energy in something more useful. We have engage our mental capacity to this things that we no longer think of something to impact our life, those in offices, market places, schools and place of worship are not excluded. It has become a norm for our survival as a lot of persons wants to make quick money in the shortest time period. Children no longer concentrate on their studies again as all manners of bet games has taken their senses away. Once a game is forecast and staked, the anxiety to know the outcome of the results becomes something to worry about. All this are the distractions we talk about. It diminishes our sense of reasoning. The mental energies we direct to this things, if channeled in the right way would go far In helping the economy of our nation. Bet shop are always filled in the morning with young men and women staking and gambling with little amount to get something bigger.. it may not sound as a crime but when something is done in excess then it calls for worry and necessary remedy

This activities of constant focus on irrelevant things hampers creativeness in young men and women who engages constantly in frivolous things that do no enhance their capacities and abilities to have a creative mind.

It is time the youth begin to focus on things that can promote economic and social development of the nation. Gone are the days will listen to words youth are leaders of tomorrow. The youth are the leaders of today, they must take charge and bring positive development. This can only be achieved when we channel our energy and focus in things that is worth doing. We cant continue to live under the pretense of bad government and leadership, it is time to become the government of our life by doing the right to the nation we find ourselves.

Changing a society and bring positive impact start from the minds set of the individuals and until our generation begins to have positive mindset devoid of distraction which hampers development then we will begin to reap the fruit of what we sow.
