Nigeria: The abused yet thriving bride

Nigeria is one country whose citizens deserve to be specially commended for surviving and dealing with hardships and the worst of news. They know how to create jokes around the most difficult situations and conditions. I think Nigerians can survive anywhere they go because their country is hard enough already. They have the hustling spirit. The average Nigerian can turn anything into money; they are gifted when it comes to ideas and innovations. The only problem is the lack of support and encouragement from the necessary and appropriate authorities.

Nigeria is the true definition of a land flowing with milk and honey but rather than blossoming, it is losing its sweetness day by day. It has become a land of so much pain and bitterness; a land where her citizens yearn to 'japa.' Why will they not want to leave when their own land is killing and drinking their blood. Who would want to stay in a land that gives no opportunity for growth but rather brings down those who strive to grow?. Who wants to stay in a land that has failed her own and continues to fail them without any effort to make things better. Would you stay?

It is always saddening when people blame Nigerians for not wanting to stay in their country to make things better or to grow their country? You can only grow something that has been planted and remains planted. The people in power would not even allow you to plant and they will uproot it the moment they see your plant is blooming. Should we talk about the households suffering because they work with the government and are being owed salaries for over 6 months and who continue to work? Should we talk about the countless lives that have been lost due to kidnapping? Should we talk about the billions that have been wasted in paying kidnappers to release victims?

Unfortunately, some of these people still get killed even after the ransoms have been paid. Must we talk about the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards all these or do we lie and say they are doing their best? Shall we talk about the many soldiers massacred while trying to defend their country? Or should we talk about those who despite terrorizing our country are caught and given education in the name of making them better? We can go on and on and still not be able to exhaust the list.?

In Nigeria today, you cannot be at peace when traveling by road no matter how short the distance is. There is fear and panic at every nook and cranny of Nigeria. The tears flowing is endless. These days, tears no longer flow rather it is the blood that flows. People lose their loved ones to either kidnapping or mob killing. There is pain in the land and it looks like there will be more pain. It is no longer the adults who are scared or afraid; the youths are even more afraid because they have their lives ahead of them and they live in a country that has so many opportunities yet none seems achievable due to lack of resources and an unfavorable government.?

Nigerian youths are not lazy; many of them are the kind of youth any country will love to have. Of course, there are the bad eggs but the good ones exist too. And you cannot totally blame the bad eggs; if you look deeply, you will realize their country contributed in one way or the other to whatever they have turned out to be.?

A lot of Nigerians living in Nigeria are already broken especially the youths and families. A man with children goes to work and at the end of the month is paid nothing for more than 6 months, how do you expect him to feed and cater to his family? A guy graduates with a beautiful result and gets no job despite searching. It is easy to tell people to learn a trade or whatever skill there is but has it ever occurred to you that not everyone wants to or can? Not everyone wants to be a baker, a carpenter, a writer, or whatever it is. Not everyone wants that. The situation has just left them with no choice and they have to learn it by force if they want to be able to eat the ones who do not want to go through that find other means and most times the other means are the wrong way.

Nigerians are like a bride who is constantly beaten and battered by her husband but yet continues to find ways to grow and thrive. She continues to find meaning for herself to stay afloat and alive this makes the husband angry. The husband here is the government. With all they do to break the citizens, they continue to grow and thrive and make names for themselves around the world.

Most Nigerians in Nigeria deserve special awards for being strong and resilient. We are what our government has made of us but we continue to strive and thrive and that alone is commendable.?

Show love to Nigerians around you because they deserve it. Most of them are not in your country because they want to be rather it is the condition and situation of things in their country. We all can do better than being mean to them. You cannot break Nigerians any further because they have been broken so many times and continue to be.

Shout out to;

All Nigerians in Nigeria who things are not easy with yet continue to find ways for themselves and thrive.?

To all families who are victims of kidnap attacks and consequently loss of their dear ones.??

To families whose breadwinners are being owed salaries by the government with no idea of when they will get paid.

To all Nigerian youths.?
