Nifty November
Learning Curve
Enabling underserved children to be emotionally balanced, socially responsible and make informed choices
Love for Learning?
Isn’t it true that the unconditional love shared is always reciprocated back in some way by the Universe. When Children love something, they go out of their way to reciprocate their love towards what they love the most. True to this, the children of KGBVs we work with expressed love towards us by forming letters -L & C. We are elated and this reminded us of the reason for our existence. It is always amazing for us to see children enjoying SEL sessions through activities and responding back. These small gestures drive us to be better at what we do everyday.
It is not only students who enjoy the SEL sessions, but teachers have fun conducting sessions in the classroom. Despite the heavy workload , teachers ensure that they do not skip conducting any SEL session for children as they have noticed these sessions being beneficial for children and themselves.
One of our teachers from Kottur KGBV, Rangareddy district, is always invested in conducting sessions. She used her creativity and illustrated the story “A hole in the fence” on the board . She explained it effectively in such a way that it influenced children’s thinking and made them ponder over the take away from the story . By the end of the session, Children easily understood the moral of the story. Children were able to relate to their past experiences, shared them with the class and came up with ways to ‘not repeat the same mistake again. Moments and instances like these prove as a testament to our work when they can influence the child’s thinking, action and bring a change.?
Be with us to hear such mind blowing stories from our schools!
A beautiful bond between the teacher and child!!
You know you're doing good work when you see teachers enjoying the sessions and students reaping the benefits of it. As we ease into November with the schedule of SAs all over the place teachers and HMs from our Affordable Private Schools are talking about how a silent child from their classroom has started sharing her feelings with others and found ways to communicate, how both teachers and children are learning to cope with the ever changing situations that they are facing and probably haven’t faced yet as well, how teachers are sharing ideas and stories across classrooms and how teachers are getting creative at conducting the session in newer environments.?
Ain’t it all truly amazing! This is what keeps us inspired and keeps us going and validates our efforts day-in day-out. Stay tuned to be amazed and inspired!

Conference alert!!
This month, we presented the paper - ‘Impact of systemic SEL intervention ‘acSELerate’ on teacher SEL development: Insights from a field study’ at the International Conference’ at University of Hyderabad .
This paper is based on our intervention with the teachers at KGBV schools. The paper was well-received by the audience and the intervention was well discussed in-depth. It is really heartening to see the increasing focus on ensuring well-being (SEL) of an individual as a prime component in defining Health. This is one step towards adding a much needed body of knowledge for social-emotional learning and mental health in India.??
If you are curious to know the details and results of the study, mail our Head, Research at [email protected]
It’s our Birthday Month!!!
We are delighted to share with you all that Learning Curve has successfully completed 6 years! Working towards accomplishing our vision has been possible only because of the efforts and unconditional dedication of the team. We proudly take this opportunity to thank the support and good will extended by each one of you in our journey as we continue to do our good work.
Step-back & Looking ahead
While we continue to work towards our vision throughout the year, we do take a day or 2 to reflect on how far we have come, what got us there and brace ourselves for what lies ahead through the Step-back event. One of the things we always do is to list down the accomplishments , no matter how small. This time we also analysed our successes and one? of the things that came out in this session was our Patience - with each other and as an Organisation. We've taken our time to build, to test, to go deep - and that's what we do best.? For all of us, it is about measurable impact. Only if we can see how our work has made that difference, we believe that it works. And we are seeing it.?
With this reflection and reassurance, we have also planned work for next year to ensure we are able to continue creating impact in the schools, take SEL to newer environments through partners? and keep building knowledge and research around SEL.
Its been a Nifty November indeed at LC! Stay tuned with us to be part of our journey ahead.
