As December unfolds, we're back with another quick Instagram update. We're doing this mostly to keep ourselves in the game of the ever-changing behemoth that is Social Media Marketing! ??
Instagram Key Quality Updates for December:
?? Enhanced Broadcast Channels:
Instagram has introduced new features to broadcast channels, allowing creators to enable replies in limited group chats. This enhancement fosters more interactive and engaging conversations within communities.
?? Removal of Hashtag Following:
Starting December 13, Instagram will discontinue the option to follow hashtags. Users can still use and search hashtags, but posts from followed hashtags will no longer appear in feeds. This change aims to reduce spam and irrelevant content, encouraging users to follow individual accounts for curated content.
?? Redesigned Story Highlights:
Instagram is testing a new layout for Story Highlights, moving them to a dedicated tab marked by a heart-shaped icon. This redesign seeks to declutter profiles and enhance the visibility of current content. While it streamlines the user experience, some users express concerns about potential decreases in engagement with highlights.
?? Clickable Links in Reels for Meta-Verified Users:
Meta-verified Instagram users can now add clickable links to their Reels, facilitating direct traffic from video content. However, this feature has a tiered subscription pricing structure, with higher tiers allowing more clickable links per Reel. This move underscores Instagram's focus on monetising advanced features while catering to users seeking enhanced promotional tools.
What do you think about these changes? Let us know and we can send a christmas cookie to Instagram to say thanks! (Not really...)
