At Direct Online Services, we are committed to fostering a workplace culture that not only embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) but actively promotes it in all aspects of our operations. We know that as leaders it’s imperative that we champion initiatives aimed at inspiring inclusion. One of our topics through our upcoming DEI initiatives is on empowering women within our business. We recognise the importance of providing development opportunities that enable women to thrive professionally. By investing in their growth and advancement, we not only enhance individual careers but also enrich the collective strength of DOS.

We currently have 28% female representation in management roles and therefore recognise that we have some work to do to amplify female representation. That being said, we understand that our industry overall attracts more males, but we remain dedicated to ensuring equal opportunities across the board.

Furthermore, we understand the significance of raising awareness on crucial topics such as women's health. This year, we plan to extend our commitment to encompass holistic support for our female employees. Through educational initiatives and resources, we aim to facilitate open dialogues and provide necessary support systems to address women's health needs effectively. From menopause awareness initiatives in the pipeline, promoting wellbeing sessions for people due to go on and return back from maternity leave, to providing free feminine hygiene products across all our locations.

To reinforce our DEI efforts, we will be launching a training program designed to upskill our entire team. This program will not only enhance awareness but also prioritise values-driven interactions that promote inclusivity and empathy. By equipping our employees with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate diverse perspectives, we aim to foster a more inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

We recognise that true progress in DEI requires embracing a variety of perspectives. Therefore, we are committed to gaining input from all levels of our business to strengthen our resolve and ensure that our initiatives are reflective of the diverse needs and experiences of our people. Our newly formed Communication and Engagement Committee has representatives across the business with differing priorities and perspectives to bring to the table, such as DEI, Mental Health and relationship building through socials.

Through every stage of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment to retirement, we remain dedicated to our mission of promoting DEI. By understanding and celebrating our differences, we not only enhance our success but also create meaningful connections both within and beyond the workplace.

As leaders, it is our responsibility to serve as catalysts for change and champions of inclusivity. By embracing this responsibility, we can create an environment where every individual feels empowered to contribute their unique talents and perspectives, ultimately driving our collective success and supporting the wellbeing of our people.

With support - Nicki Burge
