Nick Warton Leads the Team at Buildspect

Buildspect’s team of highly experienced Building Consultants continues to grow.

“Nick Warton, with 25 years of experience in the building?industry and 4 years as a building consultant and reporting, brings a wealth of knowledge and diversified?skillset to his role as Team Leader,” says Director, John Coghlan. “Buildspect?have a longstanding track record of getting results for clients to resolve complex building issues, and Nick is expertly placed to manage our team of consultants to do this.”

Writing defect reports for legal, strata and owners corporations as well as for private clients, providing project advocacy and advice on what issues can be brought into compliance versus what needs to be removed is the mainstay of Nick and his team’s work. What sets them apart though are attributes not so commonly found. Understanding the needs of the clients – even before the clients themselves do makes for a highly reliable process that ensures Buildspect are one of the most respected and?in demand?companies in the industry.

Council policy and building process can be complicated, so having a team of experts to anticipate and manage issues before they arise is critical. Nick can provide vital advice as to what clients need, help resolve their issues and provide that peace of mind that is often so elusive when building issues are encountered.?

Recent years have seen new challenges arise, especially in relation to domestic building insurance work claims as a result of fallen building companies, an area which has been very busy?post Covid.?Nick has been working in this area for the last 3 years, making him extremely familiar with these issues. Nick’s experience makes him uniquely positioned to manage concerns around combustible cladding on newer builds within Victoria. Older builds can present their own challenges, particularly with water ingress, which is another area Nick has considerable knowledge of.

When clients choose to work with Buildspect, they are getting an entire team at their disposal. This means that clients have a more thorough experience than they might elsewhere. “We are experienced in VCAT and court reporting, which is what solicitors need. “Lawyers and Strata and Property Managers know they can lean on us for expertise” explains Nick. “Clients are often?referred to us by their lawyers as being the preferred experts in reporting on building defects.”

Being part of a team is one of the advantages of working at Buildspect that appeals to Nick. “I enjoy the team environment. We have lunch every Friday,” he explains. “We can reach out to either of our experienced directors at any time for guidance which is invaluable.” A flexible work arrangement is also important. “The hours I work support having both a personal and family life. It matters to have company values that align with my own.”

This positive team environment has a range of flow-on effects for clients as well. Because administration resourcesare available to check the details and ensure accuracy, clients have a smoother experience overall.?We have a quality assurance process specifically dedicated to compliance,” Nick explains, “and so all the details are checked and clients can be confident of absolute accuracy. That level of internal support makes Buildspect an attractive place to work. Consultants can get on with what they do best, knowing that they have administrative and professional support.”

Systems play an essential role in being able to deliver a consistent, professional service. “We use a cloud based system which allows me to be efficient anywhere, whether in the office or on the road. The system is designed to be continually enhanced and improved to constantly keep up with the changing needs of our practice. It’s extremely easy to use and allows me to be efficient in managing” explains Nick.?

With more than 50 years of experience as one of Australia’s leading building inspection, reporting, and consulting firms, Buildspect’s experienced team complete detailed investigations to provide a comprehensive, timely, honest, and accurate appraisal of each specific situation. This includes preparing professional reports for residential, industrial, commercial and body corporate building matters to ensure compliance and readiness for any legal review or dispute.?
