One in four social housing blocks with fire safety defects lack remediation plans, says regulator

Social landlords have identified 1,932 buildings as having ‘life-critical’ fire safety defects to the EWS. More than a quarter (27.7) of social housing buildings over 11 metres in height with ‘life-critical’ fire safety defects have unclear remediation plans or no plans in place, according to the Regulator of Social Housing. Construction output fell in July, according to official figures

Downturn in new work and repair and maintenance led to 0.4% slump, ONS says. A recent burst in construction output growth may have petered out in July with the amount of work falling by 0.4%, according to the latest official figures. Learn more
