Niche Domination: Lessons from a 20-Something Entrepreneur ??

The Institute for the Future reports that an estimated 85 percent of the jobs that today’s students will face don’t actually exist today—and while that may seem like a high number, as a college student only five years ago, I was already on a path towards a job that didn’t exist.?

As a 20-something entrepreneur, who sought to create a digital marketing agency nearly four years ago, I’ve been in the front-row seat driving towards niche domination. Today, through robust social media strategies, Goaldy clients are reporting 2200 percent increases in their social media impression, over 500 percent increases in LinkedIn traffic in the first 30 days, and huge successes in recruitment and hiring talent as a direct result of social media efforts.?

Accomplishing results like this doesn’t happen overnight and certainly isn’t easy, but there are opportunities to ensure that entrepreneurs across Central Indiana have access to the resources they need to scale their results. Here are some of the things I’ve learned…

The demand for entrepreneurship is large, but Gen Zers recognize that business ownership enables them to have greater control and ultimately freedom over their lives. These motivations, and this mindset, are both critical to entrepreneurial success that’s able to overcome setbacks throughout the business ownership experience.?

Entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be a solo journey.?

I learned this very early on in my career, but I know too many entrepreneurs who have struggled to navigate business ownership on their own. The isolation, uncertainty, and fear have cost them exponential time, money, and confidence in their ideas and business ventures. However, Central Indiana is home to various organizations and initiatives to support business ownership efforts. Through the City of Indianapolis’ Office of Women and Minority Business Development, through the Indy Chamber’s Entrepreneur Services, through NEXT Studios, and through the Mid-States Supplier Development Council, entrepreneurs of all shapes, sizes, industries, and expertise are equipped with the right resources to support their stage of business.

These resources truly illustrate how Hoosiers hospitality, and a willingness to help our neighbors, has shaped a connected business community across Central Indiana.??
