Topic selection consultation closes 19 November 2020 11:59pm
NICE would like your views on the proposals for the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation (CHTE) topic selection programme.
Topic selection is the process for deciding which topics we produce guidance on. It's designed to support the guidance development process so that chosen topics protect patient safety and support provision of the best quality care.
CHTE is responsible for developing guidance on:
- diagnostics
- highly specialised technologies
- interventional procedures
- medical technologies
- technology appraisals.
Currently, each guidance producing programme has a bespoke process to identify, select and route topics. Updating these processes gives us the opportunity to ensure good governance and oversight.
Summary of objectives
- Consolidate existing criteria to develop a single topic selection manual.
- Align decision making and stakeholder engagement processes to improve efficiency.
- Clear communication of governance arrangements to improve accountability.
- Improve the transparency of our processes.
- Help stakeholders and the public access the information they need quickly and easily.
