Nibble the cake
One bite at a time

Nibble the cake

I’m imagining this glorious cake, all light sponge and fluffy buttercream with sprinkles and candles. It’s there, on the cake stand before me, waiting to be eaten.

I cut a slice, not too big a slice coz I don’t want to look greedy and I’m not sure how much deliciousness I can eat at once. A plate full of cake, everything I could dream of. I can see the layers of sponge and buttercream and the jam surprise. I want to gobble it all up at once.

But what if I did that? Tried to stuff the whole slice in my mouth at once? I’d probably choke and end up coughing and spluttering and my enjoyment would be gone because I was concentrating on not being sick while I gorged on too big a mouthful.

So instead I take a nibble, a small bite into the delectable texture and taste, savouring the moment, enjoying the experience. And once that nibble is gone I take another, knowing in advance how delicious it’s going to be so I enjoy the experience even further.

I go at my own pace so that I don’t get overwhelmed by cake, I eat it the way that feels good for me – some like to save the buttercream til last, others like a bit of all the textures and taste in each bite, some eat quickly, others take their time. I know the pace and technique that is right for me and do it that way.

Why all this talk of cake?

Well partly because I am kinda in love with cake, but mostly to give you a delicious analogy for how to be in your life and business.

Your dream life and business is that whole cake on the cake stand, waiting to be devoured. However, you know you can’t devour it all at once, you know you have to take it a slice at a time, a bite at a time.

Because if you try and devour it all at once you will choke, you will get overwhelmed and then the enjoyment will go and you will probably give up.

Eat your vision your way, at your pace, in your own time.

Whatever is right for you.
