The recent cyber-attack against the NHS could take ‘weeks’ to resolve, according to specialists.??

Last week, hackers targeted UK company Advanced, which provides and runs a range of software services for the health service. The ransomware attack severely impacted several platforms used to handle patient care.??

When news of the incident first broke, Advanced’s chief operating officer Simon Short claimed the attack would be resolved within a matter of days. However, further investigation shows that it could take ‘three to four weeks’ for the firm to recover from the incident.??

Glasgow medtech spin-out secures £1m funding?

University of Glasgow spin-out Acu-Flow has secured a £1 million grant to help bring its tech for treating respiratory diseases to market.?

Innovate UK has chosen University of Glasgow spin-out Acu-Flow as one of 17 projects funded by the UK’s national innovation agency’s Biomedical Catalyst programme, which provides funding for new healthcare products, technologies, and processes.?

Feast for investors as ePOS Hybrid closes latest seed round?

Hospitality tech startup ePOS Hybrid has raised almost £750,000 following a successful seed funding campaign.?

The funding round saw a total of 329 backers pledge £634,652 through the Crowdcube platform.?

Much of the cash support came from repeat supporters and ePOS Hybrid’s existing network of backers. An additional £100,000 was pledged by an angel investor, the firm revealed.?

Scots welltech startup launches platform for volunteer mentors?

Charity MCR Pathways has been working with Scottish welltech startup Frog Systems to develop the Mentor Voice platform to support its growing volunteer mentor community.??

The Mentor Voice platform allows mentors to understand how develop positive relationships with the young people they support, and learn from the lived experiences of seasoned volunteers.??

At present, more than 4,000 young people are supported by MCR Pathways, each of whom is matched with a dedicated volunteer mentor to help them build confidence and excel at school.??

Scottish firms welcome CodeClan Youth Academy interns?

A number of Scottish companies are set to welcome interns from the CodeClan Youth Academy, a partnership between the digital skills academy and investment management group Baillie Gifford.?

The partnership aims to give young people a real-world experience of how a technology-driven business operates in a workplace setting.?

The 14 interns will be taking up paid positions at FreeAgent, Stellar Omada, Heriot-Watt’s Robotarium, DirectID, Inoapps, Cademy, and Lane Media following a four-week coding bootcamp at CodeClan.?
