NFTs and the Metaverse


Another week is upon us, and something I have been putting off for WAYYY too long is learning more about NFTs and the Metaverse. Basically I am telling you this is the week to stop putting things off. If NFTs and the Metwaverse are also new things you have been putting off learning more about, hopefully I will help by sharing some of my insights from my recent learnings.

First things first, when I started my company I always told myself that we would be the go to marketing for brands - now that has been social media since we started and continues to be social media, but who knows what will come in the next 10 years. We do know that the NFT space is already diving into social media (i.e.?Twitter?and?Instagram) and from my pov the Metaverse is a form of social media.

Anyways, here is an overview of what you need to know…


Advertising

  • A new way to get in front of customers - you can buy land and also buy advertising “space”. If you are a brand who wants to be on the forefront as well as generally like to attract early adopters as customers this is a place to start exploring.

Customer Loyalty/Exclusivity

  • NFTs are going to only get bigger - we are already seeing interesting usage from brands and artists. I am currently working on a startup where we will have an NFT given with our first 100 purchases on the site. I personally want to use it as somewhat of recognition in NFT user’s wallets for the brand - like a cool collectable.

New Way to Engage

  • Pre-pandemic we were exploring more and more with IRL brand activations (and this summer it seems like they are back in full swing, at least in NYC). If you want to test something new out, you can host events and engage with people in the Metaverse.

I know this can be a lot to think about, especially when so many of you are still wrapping your head around dealing with TikTok - but it usually benefits brands to be the first to try something new and capitalize on new opportunities early.
