NFL Week 5 Picks
It is no secret, the NFL is King. The NFL Season is, without a doubt, the most exciting portion of the sports' calendar every year. There is not another sport that captivates the hearts & minds of fans (and now gamblers) like football. With that said, I will be making picks all season long and posting them weekly.
Record (Season-to-Date): 14-12-1 (- 1.4U)
Record (Last Week): 2-5-1 (- 4.8U)
Record (This Week) 5-1 (+ 2.4U)
*I'd like to emphasize this is for fun, and by no means is this information financial advice*
PLEASE BET RESPONSIBLY!
Indianapolis Colts (+3.5) @ Denver Broncos Football Club (1U)???
This is one of those lines I don't trust. Both the Colts and Broncos are missing some of their best players (Darius Leonard, Randy Gregory, Johnathan Taylor, Javonte Williams, etc.), and neither team has been too impressive. The Broncos have basically played down/up to their competition every week so far. I personally believe that Nathaniel Hackett is in the running for worst coach in the NFL this season. Both teams aren't great, I'll take the points. Colts +3.5, take it to the bank.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills (-14) (1U) ???
Don't let the last two weeks fool you, the Buffalo Bills are still a juggernaut. They started the season with two blowouts, and followed by two close games that could've gone either way. In my opinion, they should be 4-0. They are still ranked 1st in Team DVOA to Pittsburgh's ranking of 21st, and I look for them to get back to their old ways of stomping their opponents. For the Steelers, they're still missing TJ Watt and Kenny Pickett is now the starter. I'll always take the 2nd ranked defense against an inexperienced rookie QB. Bills win in a blowout.
Los Angeles Chargers (-1) @ Cleveland Browns (1U) ???
This is a simple decision. The talent disparity between the Herbert and Brissett is immense. The Browns are ranked 30th in Defensive DVOA, so it's not like there's much of a stout defense to help Brissett out. The Browns are going to have to rely on the run, but if Herbert is able to pick apart this defense early, than the Browns will be forced to throw to catch up. I like my chances if/when that happens. The injuries still scare me on the Chargers side, but this line is too low. Chargers win this one.
Detroit Lions @ New England Patriots (-3) (1U) ???
I know some of you may be scared to back the Patriots with a 3rd-string QB playing, but I am not. The Lions ranked dead last in Rush Defense DVOA, while the Patriots are ranked 1st in Rush Offense DVOA. Belichick is a master of getting the most out of his players, and he has a successful history against Jared Goff. This Patriots team is a lot better than their 1-3 record shows. I like them to win and cover at home.
6Pt Teaser: Jacksonville Jaguars (-1)/ San Francisco 49ers (-0.5) (3U) ?
Plain and simple, I like both these teams to win today. They are far better and more competent than their opponents.
Cincinnati Bengals (+3) @ Baltimore Ravens (2U) ???
Joe Burrow tore apart this Bengals defense last year in both match-ups. I don't think this one will be a blow out, but I like the game to be close. Bengals with the points.
