Earlier this month, Ballard Power Systems ("Ballard") announced a new long-term supply agreement with NFI, marking a new phase in the established Ballard-NFI partnership.
Focused on the deployment of fuel cell-electric buses from NFI’s subsidiaries, including New Flyer, Alexander Dennis, and MCI, the agreement includes NFI's order for a minimum of 100 FCmove?-HD+ modules for planned delivery in 2024.
"This agreement is the next step in our multi-decade partnership with Ballard and a key component in advancing our leading fuel cell bus offerings,” said David White, Executive Vice President, Supply Management, NFI. “By working with Ballard across numerous bus products in multiple jurisdictions, we have been able to leverage best practices and generate design, engineering and sourcing synergies. With growing demand for fuel cell buses, we are excited to continue this partnership as we drive the transition to zero-emission transportation.”??
This long-term supply agreement is the first between NFI and Ballard after an extensive partnership, dating back to 1998 when work first began with New Flyer on an early hydrogen fuel cell-electric bus concept. Alexander Dennis, an NFI subsidiary, began work with Ballard in 2019. Vehicles in NFI's zero-emission line-up featuring Ballard technology include New Flyer's Xcelsior CHARGE FC , fuel cell-electric transit bus and Alexander Dennis' Enviro400FCEV , fuel cell-electric double-deck bus.
