The Next Wave of Workplace Transformation: Working with AI

In this episode of the HR Leaders podcast, Chris Rainey speaks with Guillermo Miranda, former Global Chief Learning Officer, senior advisor, and member of the Science Advisory Board at BetterUp.

They discuss the next wave of workplace transformation, specifically working with AI. Guillermo breaks down the three types of AI: narrow AI, general AI, and super AI. He explains how AI is already augmenting human capacity, making tasks more efficient and freeing up time for higher value tasks. However, Guillermo emphasizes the importance of intentional use of AI, as well as ensuring that biases are cleaned up in the training process. He also discusses the need for companies to reinvent themselves and their workforce to keep up with the new reality of AI in the workplace. Finally, Guillermo identifies foundational skills and soft skills that are necessary for employees to develop in order to thrive in an AI-augmented workplace.

"The new augmented capacity provided by AI will change the way we work. Jobs will need to be redesigned to focus on collaborative, iterative work that adds value rather than repetitive tasks. This process will result in some jobs being reinvented, but it doesn't mean that people cannot be reinvented too."
