Next Level Success For Introvert Creators

It has always surprised me when popular content creators, coaches, and thought leaders admit they are introverts.

But then, I'm an introvert, too.

When I go to events, it is easier for me to stay behind the camera and capture other people speaking, dancing, performing, and having fun.

My business partner, Toby, and I attended the premier ribbon-cutting event at the Route 66 Visitor's and Events Center on 9 Mile Hill last Friday. There were speeches, a low-rider car show, food trucks, and bands. People had a great time, but I enjoyed it because we gathered good footage for our New Mexico Day Trips YouTube channel and had a delicious ribs dinner from the Steam Q food truck.

Introverts like me can still compete and be successful content creators.

Who Are Introverted Content Creators?

  • Coaches
  • Authors
  • Personal development & spiritual guides
  • Small business owners
  • Thought leaders
  • Encore entrepreneurs

Anybody can become a content creator, whether they are introverts or extroverts. It just takes planning.

Traits of the Introverted Creator

There are some common traits of the introvert. Most of them are a perfect fit for creators who want to access their creativity consistently.

Comfortable at home

Introverts are most comfortable at home, where they feel relaxed and focused.

Enjoys solo activities

Introverts enjoy thinking and working alone. They don’t have to deal with interruptions or worry about being overshadowed by co-workers.

Desires control over interactions

When we do need to work with others, if we can do it by phone or video conference, then we know we can end the interaction whenever we choose. This gives us confidence that other people won’t push us past our limits, invade our privacy, or suck away our energy.

Familiarity and predictability inspire confidence

When we know our schedule and we have built our skills to the point where it is easy to accomplish our work, we feel prepared and comfortable. Then we have the confidence to tackle a little extra when it comes up.

Hopes for business growth

We hope for business growth, but we know that hope is not a marketing plan. Making growth happen may require collaboration and other energy-draining strategies. That takes planning and preparation.

Wants to share knowledge and advice

When we discover strategies and helpful hacks, we want to share them with others and feel that we matter and our ideas make a difference.

Benefits of Becoming a Content Entrepreneur

Many of the benefits of becoming a content creator and entrepreneur fit in perfectly with the character and comfort zone of the introvert.

No in-person networking - work from home

During the pandemic shutdown, everybody had to adopt a work-at-home lifestyle. As an introvert, I was happy and comfortable and preferred networking online. There was no commute, the environment was controlled and I could click off at any time.?

Content creators can set up an in-home studio and complete all their work, networking, collaboration, outreach, and planning in a comfortable, safe environment.

Start now and grow into it

We don’t have to wait for permission or help to get started. We can watch videos or courses online and start our content creation business with what we already have on hand. Then we can improve and add as we learn and grow.

Share your knowledge on your terms

If we want to post short Reels or TikTok videos every day or do weekly livestreams on YouTube, that’s our choice. We can share as much or as little as we desire. We can write a blog post or create a video or podcast, or even do all three.?

Efficient workflow is predictable

When you use a framework and schedule, it helps you stay confident, consistent, and creative. It helps you conserve energy because it becomes a part of who you are.

Gain online visibility and stay competitive

Even a beginner can compete with other creatives online by using the strategies to share content consistently.?

Becoming visible with quality content and helpful topics means we become visible and credible at the same time. Soon, we are associated with the topic or industry we most often talk about.

No editing - quick turnaround - less to learn or go wrong

With the livestream video first framework, there is little to no editing. That means we can save time and put our content out quickly and consistently.?

Editing programs cost money and time to learn, so eliminating them saves us time and money while reducing the number of things that can go wrong in our workflow.

Achieve Next Level Success

I spoke with Kevin Palmieri from Next Level University last week on the Messages and Methods live podcast. We spoke about the power of consistency to level up our marketing success.

Why Is Consistency So Important?

Half of all podcasts out there have three or fewer episodes.

People think I'll start a podcast, that looks easy.

Then they get into it, and it's not easy. It's harder to come up with content than they had thought it would be. They have difficulty getting past three episodes.?

You’ve stuck with podcasting now for over a thousand episodes. What was different about you that made you stick with it?

Kevin Palmieri: In the beginning, I wasn't as consistent as I should have been, and that's full honesty.?

Since I partnered up with somebody else, we have never missed an episode. I think we partnered up with episode number 17 and we committed to do this together and never miss it.?

We have public accountability because we have built ourselves as a brand that never misses. The pressure and public accountability that is associated with that make me show up even when I don't want to.

This is the analogy I use.?

  • We all know somebody who always finds the gym.?
  • If they're traveling, they find the gym.
  • If their work schedule changes, they find the gym.?
  • If it's Thanksgiving or Christmas or a holiday, they find the gym.?
  • They are, in their identity, the type of person who doesn't miss workouts.?

That's what we are with podcasting. We're the type of people who will never miss the podcast.

We changed our identity from a couple of bros trying to podcast to two professional podcasters who will never miss, no matter what.?

It's not about me. It's about the audience. We do seven episodes a week for the audience.?

I didn't wake up and say; I want to do an episode every day.

It's a lot.?

But I also realize that if we can add more value to our audience, they'll always keep coming back. I feel a responsibility to do that at this point.?

It's a mix of a lot of things, but I identify as the type of person who will never miss a podcast episode, and I wear that proudly.

The importance of consistency is you will ignite the power of the compound effect, meaning you're going to build momentum and get results easier in the long run than you would if you only did it when you felt like it.?

You learn things along the way that you never knew you needed to know until you get to that next step.?

You might do five episodes and say, that's not for me.?

But what you don't know is you learned a lesson in the fifth episode that you're going to use in the 10th. And in the 10th episode, you'll learn one that you'll use forever.?

Not only will you learn more about what you're doing, but you really can't win without consistency.

You can't build up momentum. You won't learn enough about what you're doing.?

If you're trying to build an audience, your audience will go to where the value is, and if you are not consistently there with value, they're going to find somebody else.

Closed sign in window of restaurant

My wife and I were on vacation, and we went to this restaurant. It was closed.?

  1. I did not get to experience that restaurant.?
  2. Next time I go there, I will not experience it because it wasn't open last time.?
  3. We had to find a replacement for that restaurant.
  4. That replacement restaurant is the one I'll visit next time.?

The one that's consistently there for you is the one that you're going to return to.?

Shelley Carney: Consistency builds momentum, and it helps you to add on newer people that wouldn't have heard you on day one, but they hear you on day 100.

Because you were consistent.
