Next-Level Leadership: Why We Need It More Than Ever in 2024!

I have an invitation for you.??? Say this to yourself right now: “2024 is the year I lead myself and with those around me better than ever”.?

Sit with that for a moment.?? How does that statement feel when you allow it to roll around in your head or leave your lips??? I hope that it makes you feel slightly uncomfortable AND a little excited.

2024 needs to be the year we take leadership NEXT LEVEL.? ??I love the idea of next-level leadership.? ?It is a commitment to BETTER:?? Being Better.? Doing Better.? Creating Better.? Building Better.? Delivering Better.??

That “better” can be results, relationships, services, operational efficiency, learning retention, team performance…the list goes on.??

2024 is (y)our year to move beyond the title or role of leadership.? It is a moment where you and I take 100% responsibility for our words and actions and make a personal commitment to learning.? The future of leadership is human:? relational and results-focused vs. positional and control-focused.?

We need to rise to the level of map makers and guide; chef de mission; and become the example that invites and inspires others to join in fully with a “full body YES”.? We get to break through our commitment to being busy (which is burning us out), and build back our energy and operating systems to learn, evolve, and create better results than in the past.?? Performance and productivity will depend on it.? And the only way will be for each of us to choose to believe this: “I’m leading the best year of my life – for myself and with those around me”.?

You get to go first.? You get to be the example of better.??

In 2024, let's choose to show up differently:? to be more clear, more kind, more candid, more creative, and more courageous.? That’s Next-Level.? That’s what Better needs to look like.??

When I think of NEXT-LEVEL LEADERSHIP in 2024, I believe the following frames up the mindsets, skills, capacities, and focus that will be required.?? I’m excited to help leaders, teams, and organizations start or continue their journey to improve where they are today and to create a legacy of leadership in our schools, sports, and businesses that lasts and inspires the next generation to lead in new and better ways.???

?Next-level leaders are essential in our ever-changing world, more than ever. These leaders possess vision, adaptability, empathy, emotional intelligence, courage, resilience, tech-savviness, inclusivity, social and environmental responsibility, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
