The next few months in GenAI

Where we are going (near future)

Tuesday February 14th, 2022 -- GenAI conference in San Francisco. Jasper AI organized the event and so a part of the event was certainly a Jasper advertisement but even this proved to be interesting. And kudos to their team in assembling an amazing group of people and companies to talk about how far we have come in a short time. A few comments and statements of note:

"Remember, ChatGPT was only introduced 10 weeks ago."

"We never would have launched ChatGPT between Thanksgiving and Christmas if we'd known it was going to explode like this." Peter Welinder

"Stability is going to release music generation and video generation soon. There is a truck full of Bollywood movies being prepared for ingestion." -Emad Mostaque CEO

"Developer productivity is increasing by 10x to 100x" Amjad Masad

“Action is where we are all sprinting towards”?Aidan Gomez?

On this last point - probably the most interesting to me, the idea that Cohere and others are now working on the next building block for AI to transform customer experience - disrupting the buying process even more thoroughly. As Aidan described it -- first we had the generative transformer. Then Microsoft connected it to up to the millisecond information so that the transformer could be a retriever of information. The next step is to connect it to executing our intentions - logging onto systems and making purchases on our behalf...

“You instruct the AI to buy something and it has your credit card, it has your address, it knows how to shop in different ecommerce platforms…”

Lots more but enough from me now, it has already been a busy week

Reminds me of the early days of the Internet, 1995. IMPORTANT things were happening very, very fast. However, I'm not too thrilled about AI buying things for me ... a Valentine's Day gift for my wife? Mess that up and the progress of AI would be set back two (maybe three) centuries. Cheers!
