Next Episode Alert!

RegInt is finally back in its regular format, this time featuring the topic of "The AI cultural disconnect: does thinking globally mean failing locally?" Apart from our regular sections featuring the AI rant and the Deep Dive, we are also again bringing in a special guest to discuss whether global AI systems and models as well as global regulatory solutions necessarily mean local failures.

AI is a global phenomenon. However, it is a global phenomenon seldom developed using global data. This causes all possible sets of issues from bias and discrimination, all the way to low accuracy and performance in settings that are different from the ones represented in the training data. But it's not only that. Even though AI is a global phenomenon our rules, laws and regulations aren't. This is why reaching global solutions is so difficult, while taking over foreign solutions (read: Brussels effect) may result in all sorts of implementation problems in the countries 'inspired' by the country (or in our case region) originally drafting the rulebook.

To discuss this and much more, this time around we are bringing in Mark D. . Mark is an entrepreneur, executive coach, lecturer, the founder of the Negotiation Initiative and an individual who emphasizes the importance of cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence. For almost two decades he has trained, coached, and mentored Executives and their teams, around the globe. Many of the world’s largest organisations, including Coca-Cola Company, L’Oréal, Mars, Microsoft, and many more. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Business, in Dubai, and a member of the Board of Governors at the University of Birmingham.

As a specialist in the art of cultural negotiations, he will give his thoughts on why global solutions are complicated, how our current approaches to negotiating them are deficient and how we may search for better solutions.

(Disclaimer: Tea and Peter will also be there of course.??)

Our next episode is going live on the 20th of August at 17:00 CET.
