The Next Chapter

I left Chaser over a year and a half ago. Rests are important in music; fallow time critical to the output of a field. I’ve been fortunate to be able to consult with some amazing businesses over the last 18 months. Whilst also having the time to refresh and invest in my own personal development. Warren Bennis talks about the 3 Rs: Retreat, Renewal, Return. I’ve always known I’d start another business. Now it’s time to return, with the launch of Mayday .

Enter Mayday

I started researching what became Mayday over a year ago. I became inspired by the mission to emancipate expert knowledge , today’s professional services industry. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We are starting in accounting, making the month end process less painful. Mayday Recharger automates intercompany recharges between connected entities, doing for that process what the cloud accounting systems have done for the VAT/sales tax return and bank reconciliation. Once you’ve used it, you can’t live without it!

We started work on the product in September 2021. We’ve been blessed with amazing test users, whose feedback has been invaluable. We’re now ready to launch on Wednesday next week (20 April 2022). I’m absolutely loving it. Alongside the inspiration of our mission, a huge part of that is who I’m working with as a Co-Founder . More on that very soon!

I’m loving writing about my entrepreneurial journey at StartingUpAgain . I’ve been thrilled to hear how much enjoyment and value people are getting from reading it. As I enter this new chapter, I want to make sure I sustain my personal development. I’m enjoying writing at Acquiring Wisdom to capture what I’m learning, whilst providing myself with a forcing factor to continue doing so.

(Not yet!) Exit Consulting Work

For at least the rest of 2022, I plan to continue spending 20% of my time consulting on how businesses can most effectively partner with accounting firms as a channel to market. I’m loving the work I’m doing with SeedLegals , Spendesk and Comma . I have capacity for one, potentially two, more businesses on Partnering Accountants: Amplification, the coaching programme I’ve developed for ambitious category leading tech companies targeting accounting firms as a channel to market that want to accelerate the process of identifying and scaling the right strategy(ies) for growing through that channel.
