The AMOUNT of people who have ex-Meta, ex-Google, ex-McKinsey, ex-Goldman Sachs on their LI profile who ALSO have an #opentowork on their smiling LI picture to me is shocking. Remember when those were the people who everyone was throwing money at their feet? They can't find a job? They're struggling? Well they're not alone. Someone told them that this was a good thing to do to attract people to them - they're not alone. Simply put if you're looking for a job you're going to do what you think is a good idea to help make the job search less painful. Most people didn't see this coming (even though I've been screaming from the rooftops it was going to happen!)
CEO's aren't going to give you a warning shot. They're going to keep you at the job until the moment they have to cut you. Will you be shocked? YES. Did you just receive a great review? YES. Will they care 15 minutes after you're gone and gave your life to the company? Hell NO. They do not care so it's time for you - my GOATS to wake the heck up.
Going back to the ex-Salesforce, ex-Wayfair, ex- ex- ex- folks if you asked me 5 years ago would you recommend the Open to Work? I would've said NO. I still say NO.
Why? Because companies discriminate using this tool. Newsflash? Imagine what I share on my calls that aren't public.
I know these HR managers and Hiring managers who call themselves *leaders* "gag" and they lead with doubt and they lead with concerns about people who aren't working OR who are posting really heart breaking shares. They are indeed judging you, and it's not a good thing.

Too many of you are taking advice from hacks or people who went from being "journalists" to giving career advice here when social media popped up on the scene. Where did they get the people who would write on social media? Well they didn't come from recruiting or recruiters. I decided to do this daily in 2016 14 years after opening an account here. I went being dragged to it. So when I shared the real deal of what goes on in job search - people were like WHO ARE YOU? I responded with I'm a recruiter who isn't looking for likes or attention - I'm sharing this so you will know what is GOING on behind the scenes. People called me brave, and to this day I think I was and I am because too many will lie to you about what happens in job search.
Do people think you're a GOAT if you're going on LI begging for a job? Nope. If you appear desperate to them do you think they'll practice empathy or sympathy for your situation? Nope again. Will they think "BOY that CEO of yours really screwed up your company OH that's the reason for your gap? How's Friday at 2 PM to interview with me? Oh hell, let's just give you an offer."
IT DOES NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY.
