Newsletter's year recap and 2025 outlook
Frantz Lohier
CTO (Chief Technology Officer) ? product disrupter & technology enthusiast ? entrepreneur ? inventor ? startup mentor ? book author
It's been a prolific editorial year for my newsletter, with 37 articles covering a wide range of topics linked to the status and management of numerous technologies and innovation opportunities (see list below).
The project started as a complement to my first book,?Who says Tech is a long, quiet river??published late 2023 (french version here:?La tech n'est pas un long fleuve tranquille !).
I'm glad to report that my free articles have been very well received, particularly from people in the automotive and robotics sector, where I have spent the majority of my career. With 10K article views in 2024 and ~500 subscribers only gained through "word-of-mouth", I feel like 2024 was a good "launch" year with an audience ranging from CEO, CTO, board members and Technical subject matter experts.
What motivates this work?
First, I'm passionate about technology and innovation, and I like writing and sharing my experiences and viewpoints. Some of my publications have enabled some very interesting consulting engagements, while the newsletter has generally contributed to increasing the sales of my first book. Showing thought leadership on one or 2 topics is also a great way to nail down employment opportunities (several of you know that I have recently joined Amazon AWS).
A word on ethics: I am committed to only authoring articles that are based on publicly available information. I use ChatGPT extensively to research topics, DALL-E for illustration, and I am adept at what people call "prompt-engineering" where the way you guide and ask successive questions to a large LLM framework is how you can best obtain answers to questions you are researching.
Yet, I want to be clear: none of my articles are automatically generated, and more than being "human-still-in-the loop", my work reflects neutral positions or intuitions that I ultimately express using my own words, using data points I decided to select and cure.
Finally, my articles only reflect my personal independent views and opinions on topics I choose—and aren't related to any particular employer or customer relationships.
I feel it's important to clarify all this in a world where fake news and automatic content generation are becoming the norm.
What to expect in 2025?
As I am working on a second book that will leverage the analysis of several articles I produced in 2024, and if my 2025 agenda permits, I intend to author a monthly article on topics that received the most interest in 2024 (and not just AI-related subjects for which there's an explosion of information out there).
There are also article follow-ups I intend to do on some fascinating core technologies and explore new sectors (fintech is something I have always wanted to understand better, to the point where I recently passed some certifications ...).
If there are topics you'd like me to cover, feel free to let me know. (To my surprise, some geopolitical topics I treated this year, such as the ongoing US-China trade war, received much attention.)
