?? Meet a Complementary Pathways Officer
??? Meet a Protection Officer
"Protection officers work with partners and governments to deliver protection and assistance for refugees. Protection officers also work with people who are forced to flee and their host communities in order to understand their specific and collective needs and come up with solutions to ensure they are safe from risks, such as gender-based violence, exploitation, and abuse, while thinking of their long-term inclusion in order to rebuild their lives and recover hope away from home." Hodhan Dubow, Ethiopia
?? Meet a Shelter Officer
"Shelter officers coordinate with all partners to ensure that refugees live in maximum safety and dignity. We provide accommodation such as a tent or a communal hanger. We also provide complimentary WASH facilities to ensure people have the basics. We always ensure that, as humanitarians, we create a home away from home for refugees." Ernest Ariyo Cummings, Ethiopia
?? Meet a Registration Officer (Egypt)
"UNHCR registration officers receive and register asylum seekers on a daily basis on behalf of the Egyptian government. Upon registration, asylum-seekers are able to legalize their stay and access protection and basic needs services. Registration officers can also identify the needs and vulnerabilities of asylum seekers and refer them to the relevant service providers. Since the conflict started in Sudan, UNHCR Egypt has expanded its working days, working hours, and staff, in order to cater to the new arrivals coming from Sudan."?Rana Sakr, Egypt
?? Meet a Field Officer
"Field officers coordinate the movement of new arrivals from the transit centre to the settlement. Working together with partners and companies, a field officer monitors activities in the settlements, including the distribution of core relief items, sanitary materials, and reporting about achievements and gaps in the settlement. A field officer makes sure refugees receive the services they need." Wenceslaus Ayebazibwe, Ethiopia
?? Meet a Driver
"We drive our staff to and from different locations. I have to prepare physically and mentally. The assigned vehicle must be well-equipped with radio communication, a first-aid kit, water, and two spare tires. The driver must support the team, especially in loading and offloading things. That is part of the teamwork." Kitaw Tale, Ethiopia
?? Meet a Public Health Officer
"Public Health Officers work with the host and refugee community to establish a community-based surveillance system to raise awareness among the community on key health topics. We are providing support during supervision visits at the health centres and health posts to increase the capacity of the clinical team. We are supporting the health authorities to have a well-coordinated health and nutritional force, to scale up health and nutritional services that can support both host and refugee communities." Dr. Kazi Nazmis Sakib, Ethiopia
??Meet a WASH Officer
"The WASH officer oversees the implementation of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities. The main purpose is to avoid health and water and sanitation-related diseases by ensuring the quantity of water is sufficient, the number of sanitation facilities is enough, and hygiene promotion activities are done properly." Mathias Ntawiha, Ethiopia
