Amazon Just Announced 7 New Advertising Features. Which Ones Matter Most?
Amazon?announced a slew of new advertising capabilities at its Unboxed event in New York today. Observing the enhancements in aggregate provides a view into a roadmap that Amazon holds close to its chest. As the retailer appears to?brace for economic headwinds, advertising revenue is highly profitable and represents a financial bright spot for the company. Many of the enhancements represent an easier way-in for smaller and emerging brands. These include features like campaign presets and campaign recommendations, as well as a simple video creation tool. “We want to bring the power of video advertising to more brands, no matter their size or level of resources,” said Tanner Elton, vice president of U.S. sales for Amazon Ads in a statement.

Amazon Launches in Belgium
Amazon’s ten European marketplaces combined receive roughly 1.4 billion monthly web visits. That’s nearly 60% as big as the Amazon website in the U.S. However, the countries launched over the past few years - Poland, The Netherlands, and Sweden - add up to a tiny sliver of that (a few percent). They are long-term bets, and Amazon likely made those moves because the infrastructure was already in place.

Amazon outpaces Zalando and Wehkamp in top Dutch ecommerce

Amazon stops field tests of its delivery robot Scout
Amazon’s is scaling back its plans to build a delivery robot, Scout, but insists that the project is not finished.
Bloomberg?first reported that the company has?shut down tests of the machine, and that the Scout team, constituting around 400 employees globally, is being disbanded. However, a spokesperson for Amazon, Alisa Carroll, told?The Verge?that the company is “not?abandoning the Scout program” entirely: “We are scaling the program back and still have a team dedicated to Scout.”

Amazon’s set to launch its prototype internet satellites early next year
Amazon is getting ready to launch two test satellites for its Project Kuiper satellite internet constellation, built to compete with services like. The company says the launch will let it perform tests on its satellite network technology with data from space and that the data will “help finalize design, deployment, and operational plans for our commercial satellite system.” The timeframe marks a slight delay from Amazon’s original plan; last year, the company announced it would launch the prototypes in Q4 of 2022, using a completely different rocket from a company called ABL Space Systems.
