Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Lazarus Brewing

Thank you to all who joined us for a great Cinco de Mayo celebration! Fun was to be had by all and we appreciate everyone's support.?

We gathered 60+ people to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with mariachi music, pi?atas, and great connection and conversation. Although Cinco de Mayo has its history and roots in Mexican heritage, in the US, it has also fueled movements for social justice, bringing change to all communities over the last century.

Reflecting on this incredible event, we are reminded of the significance of Cinco de Mayo, a day that symbolizes unity, resilience, and cultural pride. It was heartwarming to see our community come together to honor this important date. The laughter, the music, and the shared moments made it a day to remember. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo is not just about enjoying great food and lively entertainment; it is about acknowledging the rich history and heritage that shape our diverse community.

Our celebration was made even more special thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and the warm hospitality of Lazarus Brewing Company . The vibrant mariachi music provided by RSM Austin added an authentic touch that transported us all to the heart of Mexican culture. Lazarus Brewing’s welcoming atmosphere and excellent service created the perfect setting for our fiesta, making everyone feel right at home.

For ALPFA Austin, it is important to educate our communities about traditions and bring together our ALPFAmilia. We are already looking forward to next year’s Cinco de Mayo event and are excited about the opportunities it will bring to connect us further.

Mentoring Program

Date: Program April - November 2024

Time: Based on each individual session

Location: Virtual

We are pleased to report that our inaugural ALPFA Austin Mentoring Program (AAMP) is progressing well as we enter the third month. After a successful orientation in April, our participants have completed their first session and we have conducted personal check-ins. These initial discussions have been instrumental in establishing strong mentor-mentee relationships and addressing individual needs and challenges.

Participants are now actively engaged in their monthly meetings, which focus on professional and personal development. The feedback has been extremely positive, highlighting the value of these connections and the growth opportunities they present.

We thank all mentors and mentees for their enthusiasm and commitment, which have been key to the program's success so far. We look forward to sharing more updates as the program continues to evolve.

Any other questions? Please contact Dr. Alejandra R Mielke: [email protected] or Laura Guolo: [email protected]

We hope to see you participate in this formidable program in the future.
