Edition 6
Letter from the editor?
I remember a time when my best friend and I would spend hours playing in the lush green fields behind our childhood homes. Those were the days when time seemed endless, and worries nonexistent.
As we grew older, responsibilities and expectations began to weigh us down. We find ourselves caught in the web of societal norms, feeling like we have to fit into predetermined moulds. The carefree laughter of our youth faded into the background, replaced by a constant need to conform and be "perfect."
But in the midst of it all, my friend never lost her spark. She had a way of standing out in a crowd, unapologetically being herself. People couldn't help but stare at her radiant energy, her unwavering confidence.
I, on the other hand, found myself shying away from attention. The thought of people looking at me, judging me, made my palms sweat and my heart race. I wanted to blend into the background, to go unnoticed, to avoid the scrutiny of others.
It took me years to realise that my friend's fearlessness was something to be admired, not feared. She showed me that being seen, truly seen, was a gift, not a curse. That standing out from the crowd meant embracing my uniqueness, not hiding it.
We all have our moments of doubt, our fears of being judged or criticised. But perhaps, like my friend, we can learn to embrace the looks of admiration or distain, to see them not as threats but as affirmations of our authenticity. To stand tall in our own light, unafraid of being seen for who we truly are.
So, let them stare. Let them gaze in awe at the brilliance that is you.?
For in their eyes, you may just find the reflection of your own inner strength and beauty. Stand out, shine bright, and never be afraid to be seen.

About Fear?
Fear as many of you may know, is a powerful force which can hold us back, keep us stagnant, and prevent us from reaching our full potential. It lurks in the shadows, feeding on our insecurities and doubts, whispering lies of inadequacy and failure.
I used to be consumed by fear, paralysed by the what-ifs and worst-case scenarios that seemed to loom at every corner. In the end, it seemed easier to play it safe, to stay within the confines of my comfort zone, where the unknown couldn't reach me.
But as time passed, I realised that living in fear was no way to live at all. I was tired of letting my worries dictate my decisions, tired of missing out on experiences because of what could go wrong. Something had to change.
I made a conscious decision to confront my fears head-on, to look them in the eye and refuse to back down. It wasn't easy, and there were moments when doubt crept back in, whispering that I wasn't strong enough, brave enough, good enough.
But with each small step taken in defiance of fear, I felt a shift within me. I started to see that fear only had power over me if I allowed it to. I began to challenge myself, to push past the boundaries that fear had created, one tiny victory at a time.
And slowly, almost imperceptibly, the grip of fear began to loosen. I discovered that courage wasn't the absence of fear, but the willingness to face it despite the trembling in my heart. I found strength in vulnerability, resilience in uncertainty, and freedom in embracing the unknown.

Now, whenever fear rears its ugly head, I stand tall, knowing that I have faced it before and emerged stronger on the other side. I have learned that fear is not my enemy but a teacher, guiding me to places I never thought possible.
So, to anyone out there battling their own fears, know that you are not alone. You are capable of overcoming whatever obstacles stand in your way. Take that first step, no matter how small, and keep moving forward. The journey may be daunting, but the rewards of courage are immeasurable. Choose bravery over fear, and watch as you soar to new heights you never thought possible.
Embracing Fear: Transformative Insight
In our journey of self-discovery and empowerment, particularly within the realms of leadership, understanding the nature of fear stands as a cornerstone of growth.?
I trained with Tara Mohr, an esteemed thought leader and guide, who offers a rich and nuanced perspective that reaches back through millennia to illuminate our path forward today.
Drawing on ancient wisdom, she articulates a profoundly relevant and transformative concept: the existence of two distinct types of fear. This distinction, deeply embedded in our historical teachings, holds the key to unlocking our full potential, especially for women navigating the challenging waters of modern professional and personal landscapes.
Uncovering the Two Faces of Fear
1. Pachad - The Fear of Projected or Imagined Things: Pachad represents the fear of the "what ifs," the projected dangers that our minds conjure, often without base in reality. It's the heart-racing, sweat-inducing anticipation of outcomes that may never come to pass. This type of fear can paralyse, hinder, and prevent us from stepping boldly towards our goals and aspirations.
2. Yirah - The Fear Associated with Growth and Expansion:Yirah, on the other hand, is a fear that emerges in moments of significant growth, expansion, or when we find ourselves in possession of more energy than we are accustomed to. Yirah is experienced in moments that push us beyond our boundaries, moments that call us to step into a larger version of ourselves.
Navigating Fear with Skill and Grace
Understanding these two distinct types of fear reshapes our approach and response to fear in our lives. Here’s how we can embrace this wisdom:
Responding to Pachad: When faced with Pachad, the call to action is to ground ourselves in reality, to distinguish between perceived threat and actual danger. This requires a mindful awareness of our thoughts and feelings, acknowledging our fears without allowing them to dictate our actions. By doing so, we reclaim our power from imagined scenarios and redirect our energy towards constructive, growth-oriented endeavours.
Embracing Yirah: Yirah, whilst daunting, is a signal of profound transformation and opportunity. Encountering Yirah is an invitation to lean into the discomfort of growth, to welcome the expansion of our capabilities and roles. It urges us to celebrate the journey of becoming, to embrace the uncertainty and to trust in our ability to navigate the unknown. Yirah, with its intensity and awe, reminds us that we are in the process of achieving something truly significant.
A Path Forward
These insights into the ancient teaching of two fears provides a powerful framework for personal and professional development. It encourages us, especially women, to preconceive our relationship with fear, to see it not as a barrier but as a guidepost indicating where growth and transformation lie.
As professionals and aspiring leaders, integrating this understanding into our work not just enriches our own lives but also empowers us to support others in navigating their fears. It enables us to hold space for the complexities of human experience, fostering environments where growth, change, and courage flourish.
In embracing both Pachad and Yirah, we learn to move through the world with a deeper sense of awareness, resilience, and purpose. We learn that every moment of fear also holds the possibility for transformation and that, dear rare diamonds ?? , is a profound kind of freedom.
The journey through fear, underpinned by millennia of wisdom, reminds us of the incredible capacity for growth that lies within us all. Let's embark on this journey together, with courage, curiosity, and compassion, as we unlock our fullest potential.
