Newsletter intro: Dr. Nzinga Broussard
I was thrilled to attend SOCAP23 in San Francisco alongside a number of my Sorenson Impact colleagues. The three-day event was a hive of activity! There was an atmosphere of excitement from being surrounded by such an inspiring community of impact-focused individuals. The conversations flowed naturally, and it felt refreshing to discuss common challenges, practices, and new developments in the impact investing field with people from across the globe.
“Scale what works” was a theme I heard throughout SOCAP23, from the opening plenary to the last session I attended. This requires impact measurement — something I am passionate about. What I found most interesting were the discussions focused on the most effective ways to grow solutions to reach and benefit more people. The distinction was drawn between growing through scale and growing through replication. I had the opportunity to better understand the benefits of growing through replication, which allows for the adoption of localization to ensure impact.
