We are excited to share the latest update on Indonesian coffee's success in securing transactions at the Taichung International Tea, Wine, Coffee, and Bakery Show exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan. The event has once again highlighted the growing presence of Indonesian coffee products in the Taiwanese market.
According to Mr. Iqbal Shofwan, the Head of KDEI Taipei, Indonesia achieved a remarkable milestone with transactions totaling USD 2.66 million or IDR 39.81 billion. This significant achievement demonstrates the increasing acceptance and demand for Indonesian coffee in Taiwan (source: Ministry of Trade Press Release, 14/06/2023).
Taiwan's coffee market has witnessed steady growth over the past two decades, resulting in a surge in demand for coffee commodities. Indonesia, as a major coffee exporter, has leveraged this opportunity to strengthen its position in the Taiwanese market.
In 2022 alone, Indonesia's coffee exports to Taiwan reached US$ 17.34 million, marking a notable increase of 21.36 percent from the previous year. Indonesian coffee exports now account for 6.2 percent of Taiwan's total coffee imports. However, it is important to note that competition from South American and African coffee suppliers is also intensifying (source: bisnis.tempo.co).
To sustain and enhance Indonesia's market share in Taiwan, KDEI Taipei has developed a strategic plan to promote Indonesian coffee sales. Their participation in the Taichung exhibition is one of the key initiatives aimed at fostering existing relationships and expanding the market further.
