Take-aways from Svemin Summit

Geopolitical tensions and climate needs place the industry at the center. Here are the key take-aways from the Svemin Autumn Summit 2024 - according to us and Swedish Metals & Minerals .

The focus was on how the industry can navigate a time of global tensions and increasing sustainability demands.

?? Research and innovation for the future"Sweden must continue investing in research and innovation. It is our best way to remain competitive in the long term."?said Susanne Norgren, Sandvik.

?? Resilience in an uncertain world"We cannot plan for everything, but we can plan to be flexible. Building more robust supply chains is essential." said Mikael Staffas, CEO of Boliden.

?? Malmbanan – the industry’s lifeline"Malmbanan handles 40% of Sweden’s freight traffic. When it shuts down, we lose 100 million SEK per day." said Jan Mostr?m, CEO of LKAB.

?? Knowledge that transforms "We need to spread understanding of raw material supply, from elementary schools to society at large."?said Susanne Norgren, Sandvik.

?? What does this mean for the industry?- Invest in research and innovation for sustainability and competitiveness.- Build robust and flexible supply chains.- Increase knowledge of raw material importance across society.
