This is a newsletter for Ascend's community of leaders.

We're reimagining leadership to create a future where all children and families flourish.
You who have made a commitment in your life to be part of the solution, to believe in a whole-family, two-generation (2Gen) approach to create a future where everyone can flourish.?Nothing of significance, nothing of meaning, nothing that lasts is accomplished by any one person or even one organization.
Enduring change – the kind that builds intergenerational prosperity and well-being for all children and families – is about tapping the leadership that lies in all of us and ascending together. Change happens at the speed of relationships and trust, and we are so thankful to have this dedicated community that joins us in centering key values?– embrace an abundant and ambitious mindset; honor lived experience; equity is the moral center of all we do; together we can climb high and go far?– to transform hearts, minds, policies, and practices.
A new year represents new possibilities, and we are excited about impact – accelerating policy innovation, unlocking capital to transform potential into progress, and creating lasting systems change. This monthly newsletter is a space to lift up our shared vision, connect on what works, and celebrate the full diversity, imagination, and brilliance of our community. Together, we have ignited a movement that reaches more than 15 million families – and in 2024, we’ll rise to make an even greater impact. Meet you in The Takeoff.

Lead with Values to Create Social Change in 2024
When facing great challenges and complexity, we look to leaders who have persevered through tumultuous times and found a way forward. Ascend Executive Director Anne Mosle recently joined Reverend Raphael Warnock for U.S. Senate and best-selling author Jonathan Eig to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s example?–?the first in a new thought leadership series hosted by Anne that will explore connections between values, leadership, and social impact. Learn how embracing values-based leadership can help ensure that prosperity and well-being pass from generation to generation.
Co-Creating Actionable?Solutions is Key to Family Prosperity
Ascend’s new Collaborative Framework for a 2Gen Approach in New Mexico notes that honoring lived experience and leveraging the strengths of young families is crucial to building stronger economic pathways. Drawing on recommendations from Ascend Parent Advisors, this report provides a roadmap that policymakers, philanthropies, practitioners, Tribal leaders, and the private sector can use to meet young parents where they dream.
2Gen Approaches Strengthen Families Long-Term
Despite declines in the United States’ poverty rate, families living in low-income households continue to face barriers to economic mobility. A groundbreaking analysis conducted by Ascend and Child Trends finds that we have a generational moment to advance 2Gen supports that lower and remove these barriers – and celebrate families as they define themselves.
