The one about exams

Sneek peak

It's barely the first week of the school year, and I'm talking about exams right away. Sorry! It's not my fault. Microsoft has just made an interesting change to its exam system (actually, Person did it). What is it? I invite you to read on and wish you a peaceful week!

Worth reading by ?ukasz Falaciński

[?? Teams ??] Recently, a lot of people have been asking me about my impressions of using the new Teams. Is it worth it? Not worth it? Better? Worse? As is usually the case, it depends. Certainly the new version works faster, and the option to support multiple accounts is very convenient. However, if I have to conduct a training course, I go back to the old version, because in the new one there is no Q and A module, for example. Slowly the missing features are being added (recently, at least application management) and it's only a matter of time when the choice will be gone. Just look at the summary of the new features introduced in August: What’s New in Microsoft Teams | August 2023 - Microsoft Community Hub. This time my attention was mainly caught by the new equipment certified for Teams. Christmas is just around the corner. I start writing a letter to Santa Claus ??

Speaking of the upcoming changes and the new client, one of the pleasant consequences of this is the ability to choose the account from which the meeting invitation will be created. Finally!

[?? Power Automate ??] Automation is an obvious scenario for using Power Automate. Remember that you can also use the Process Mining function on this platform and diagnose what processes are worth automating in your organization. The topic is not simple, but the just announced Copilot for Process Mining can simplify it brilliantly. Especially when it comes to log analysis. Anyway, see for yourself (I recommend the video in this article): Microsoft announces preview of new Copilot capabilities in Power Automate Process Mining | Power Automate Blog

In the next chapter of his Power Automate best practices book, Matthew Devaney touches on a very important issue - connections. Connections vs Connection References - what are the differences and why should you use the latter? I invite you to read: Power Automate Standards: Connection References (matthewdevaney.com)

And then immediately worth reading about commenting on actions in Power Automate. Seemingly simple, seemingly obvious, and so often forgotten. Take a peek at these few tips: Power Automate Standards: Commenting Code (matthewdevaney.com)

[?? AI ??] What about building your "GPT Chat" running on internal data (e.g., from our SharePoint Online)? How complicated is this process? It turns out that it actually isn't. All the necessary building blocks are already available in Azure. Take a look at: Chris O'Brien: Integrating your data with ChatGPT - exploring Microsoft's "Azure OpenAI on your data" accelerator (sharepointnutsandbolts.com)

[???? Exams ????] Have you ever taken a Microsoft exam? And do you remember the pointless learning by heart instead of using experience?

MS exams have always been associated with meaningless memorization, where you had to go through a lot of "downloads" (so-called Brain-dumps) in order not to pad out on a frequent situation where a nuance was really decided (e.g., "Which PowerShell command will you use to get a collection of all applications: Get-apps; List-apps, Select, Update." - this is a typical exam example, where 2 items are immediately shootable, but 2 are close to each other. At the level of sense, then both functions could implement it, but of course it was a matter of remembering which function implemented it. Supposedly, this was to verify experience, but in fact, it didn't show it, because people learned the exams FOR MEMORY. Anyway - IT'S OVER.

Big changes are coming to how Microsoft certification exams will be administered. Namely: from now on, you will be able to use Microsoft Learn documentation during the exam!

1. You will have access to everything in Learn.microsoft.com except for the Q&A section and your profile.

2. Additional time will not be added.

3. The exam timer will continue to count down as you search on Learn

4. This resource is only available for role-based exams, not fundamentals exams (fundamentals, i.e. XY-900).

Learn will be available in the same languages in which the exam is available.

Here the official announcement: Introducing a new resource for all role-based Microsoft Certification exams - Microsoft Community Hub
