Newsletter # 29 - Find the most effective way to learn "THIS"

What do I mean with this title?

?

Learning is something every living thing performs throughout their lives. Some lessons may require a specific type of “lesson”, and some may require others. Learning to dance via ONLY ‘book learning’ for instance is going to be infinitely more difficult then working with a partner and utilizing muscle memory to assist in the process.

?

But to re-enforce Simon Sinek’s teachings, sometimes finding a “WHY” can essentially make the process much more friction-free.

?

Consider the following scenarios: Scenario A: You want to learn to cook. Where do you start? The oven manual or the physics applied when using a stove or oven? YouTube?

?

Scenario B: “I want to learn to cook so I can surprise granny on her next birthday with a home-cooked meal. I know I don’t have many years left with her and want to make her feel special. So to start, how do I make biscuits to go with the meal?”

?

One of these methods will keep your drive alive during the ‘grind’ and one will provide no support at all. By considering the biological aspects, we know that dopamine rewards are hard-wired into our design, so utilizing these to self-re-enforce positive habits and behaviors for our benefit only makes logical sense.

?

To do otherwise would be like trying to become a long distance runner but not using your feet, only using your legs.

?

By considering the psychological aspects, we can see that having the “WHY” be removed and separate from the tasks of the grind enables it to remain a motivating factor, even when you get bored or the lessons get really tough.

?

?

Like most of you, I started “learning” about the LLM versions of AI when ChatGPT was released to the public. When the “4o” model was released with persistent memory, it gave me the ability to establish a “why” goal for my learning; “See if I could ‘teach’ the LLM a new method of thinking. I would do this by teaching myself LLMs and the differences between the different models. Attached are two of the “Thought Experiments” I ran to help teach the model. But another message which a lot of ‘ink” has already been used to opinionate and illuminate (or obfuscate,) about AI – is the importance of #PromptEngineering.

?

By using multiple ‘disciplines’ of thought, it enabled the variation of teaching patterns, enabling faster learning.

Disciplines or genres of conversation topic while teaching ChatGPT a new way of thinking.

How do we already have this experience and/or knowledge?

?

If you have ever tried to physically train your body, especially your muscles, this would be a similar analogy.

?

In most gyms I have seen there are multiple “schools of thought” related to the HOW of training. Some say machines are better at isolating a specific muscle so you can hyper-target. Others want free-weights because of the dynamic nature of the exercise – “your arm isn’t straight, now the exercise is 15% harder and involves your lower back and core.”

?

If I told you the first part, “ “I” before “e” “ and not the rest of the saying, would it be as valuable?

?

Think “Holistically”.

?

How can I apply this knowledge?

?

Read the attachments. See how my prompts got the responses they did.

?

When you use whichever model of AI you use, do you get responses similar to these shown here?
