A) "1 PROBLEM":

Lack of trust within a team or organization leads to several significant issues. Communication suffers as team members withhold information, leading to increased misunderstandings. Decision-making becomes sluggish due to hesitation and fear of blame, causing delays. Collaboration breaks down, with individuals working in isolation and avoiding support, which hampers productivity and innovation. Conflicts become more frequent, with blame-shifting and competitive behavior replacing cooperation. Morale drops as employees feel undervalued and less motivated, resulting in job dissatisfaction and higher turnover. Overall, the absence of trust disrupts communication, slows decision-making, reduces collaboration, increases conflict, and lowers morale, ultimately impairing team performance.

B) "1 INSIGHT":

A high level of trust accelerates decision-making, enhances communication, and fosters risk-taking. It reduces non-value-adding activities such as bureaucracy and micromanagement, creating a positive work environment that supports collaboration and innovation. Just as a construction plan, though invisible, guides a building project, trust in the workplace forms the unseen backbone of success. It establishes the framework where employees can collaborate, innovate, and take risks—essential for peak performance.

The so-called Apple Tree Model illustrates that building trust is a gradual and long-term endeavor, much like growing a fruitful apple tree. To cultivate a thriving apple tree and juicy apples, rich nutrients and pest control are necessary. Similarly, trust requires continuous, positive actions (nutrients) and avoidance of trust-damaging behaviors (pests). We must plan for trust-enhancing actions and identify and eliminate those that weaken trust.

Daniel Hartweg without trust, we don’t share ideas and we don’t share our challenges. That’s a limitation for growth in any language. It also means not second-guessing intent, like you said, knowing that they have your best interests in mind and are not trying to undercut your efforts.
