Summer is here, and the #DesignForTomorrow Summer Initiative is in full swing. What was intended to be an awareness week has turned into awareness weeks! Can you take the heat? Temperature-wize I know I can, because I live in the Netherlands... but activity-wize, it's sizzling.
If you studied design, chances are "The Design of Everyday Things" may have been a book on your reading list. Well, the author Don Norman recently published a new book "Design for a Better World" which fits the #DesignForTomorrow theme.
Not only that, but he will be sharing his thoughts on the panel of our opening ceremony. Next to him we have some more inspirational professionals making up the panel. Trine Falbe from the Ethical Design Network, Carla Traini who is the chairman of IxDA Nederland , Sean Carney from Design for Good , and Robert Kozma Ph.D. author of Make the World a Better Place, Design with Passion, Purpose & Value will all be taking a seat to talk about Designing for Tomorrow. Along side Koert Bakker who was instrumental in making the Design for Good January event happen and who can be credited for planting the seed for the #DesignForTomorrow Initiative.?
There are many more known names including Bob Baxley who will be joining and we are very grateful for such inspirational humility, but as a community, we are also very proud of our own talented pool of members. Marli Ritter , Koert Bakker , William Terra and Ricardo Faria will return to the stage for their second community talks.
And, we have a long list of insightful speakers from around the world. Catherine Hills from Australia, Ricardo Brito , Victoria Weinsberg , Stefan Barac , and Christelle Pillot from Germany, Stine Ramsing from Denmark, Tiziana d'Agostino , Alex Bilstein , Nick Mann , Deborah Lalush Tracy Borreson and Sara Dholakia from the US, Laura Korculanin from Portugal, Nashmil M. from Sweden, Jon Deragon from Vietnam and Lison Guéguen from France, and our local talent, Nadine Niehaus ?? , Claudia Mayer , Erik Roscam Abbing , Maria Helena Nunes , and Ronja Bruijns - Shoblak are sure to expand your knowledge and leave you with insights. More speakers to be confirmed next week.
Ok, that is a lot of name dropping, but just a fraction of the hot line up of speakers we have in store. While name dropping has never impressed me, the names mentioned and their passion for design and it's makeup, has. Please join me in welcoming our amazing speakers.
We are still searching for volunteers and sponsors, want to help make events featuring these amazing speakers? Get in touch with Candice Storm .
Some of the events are published and you can start joining. RSVP on Meetup. We've only launched our Meetup page on Tuesday, so keep checking because there are many events coming up. We will also be adding networking and social events.
You can learn more about #DesignForTomorrow on our portal.
Now for some event banners to give you a reading break in no particular order.
Was that a lot of scrolling? Yes, yes it was! But we have twice more to add. And that is just Randstad UX Initiatives. For this awareness week we will also be listing events from other organisers who are addressing topics relating to #DesignForTomorrow.
