Newsflash: Your CEO Doesn't Care about "Employee Experience"

HR leaders... Can I give you some hard news? Burst your bubble? Rain on your parade? Here goes:

Your CEO doesn't care about the employee experience.

Really, it's true. Ask any CEO if they want to pour dollars and effort into some generic "experience" and they would laugh you out of the room. After all, if the only point is to create a positive experience, then why not give them free food, ping pong tables, and massages all day long?

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

But if you're one of those leaders that sees the employee experience as an opportunity to improve employee engagement, performance, and productivity, then maybe we have something to discuss. See, those conversations, the ones about productivity and such, are the ones that executives want to have. The more we can talk as business leaders about the challenges, issues, and opportunities that matter to the business, the better off we'll all be.

That's why I am personally dedicated to elevating this fluffy, amorphous discussion about the employee experience from a buzzword to something that you can credibly and openly speak with your leadership team about.

It's not about the experience for the sake of the experience. It's about the experience for the benefits it can bring to the organization.

This week I'm co-hosting an online training session exploring these concepts with my friend George LaRocque. We're also giving away free copies of our new eBook to registrants; the eBook focuses on how to have these conversations with your own CEO and executive team, so even if you can't make it, be sure to sign up to get the goods.

Together, we can change this conversation. We can have meaningful discussions. And for goodness sake, we can help HR to gain some credibility at the highest levels of our organizations. Who wouldn't want that?
