I read a lot and stay informed.
The #NewYouCanUse is a new article series where I share important reminders of what is going on in the world and how it affects women, underrepresented professionals, male allies, and the business we do in financial services and financial technology.
You are always welcome to add articles, thoughts, and meet new people through these discussions. Please be kind to one another when differences of opinions occur. It happens and helps us all think differently.
Here are this week's finds:
Meta is (finally) rolling out a way for you to delete your Threads profile without having to delete your Instagram account, too.
Many Threads users are now saying they have the ability to opt out of having their posts shown on Instagram and Facebook.
May not seem applicable, but it is. Foster so eloquenlty shares, "I see the beauty of having 10,000 hours, and that confidence where you don’t expend energy needlessly." And that's just one of the many gems in this article. cc: Linda Wittich
Definitely a financial services-related article, I loved reading, "Women need to embrace self-promotion and self-advocacy. I talk to so many friends and colleagues who downplay their skills, achievements, and ambitions, and at times I am guilty of this too. It’s crucial for women to recognize the value they bring to the table and to be vocal about their accomplishments." And we need more of this! (To our male allies - how can you actively help support these types of conversations in your work?) cc: Jeannette Seibly
HOW are we still tallking about something that should be second nature and acting like it's new news, but here we are. ?? Seven tips are shared and they remain tried and true - and should be used by everyone interviewing, hiring, and for those looking for work make sure they are asking these questions or showcasing their cultural awareness. cc: Peggy Haslach, CFP?,CLU?

Well, any woman could tell you this, but maybe it sounds more plausible when Harvard says it. And you know what they found out? What women already knew. First, it turns out that women directors come to board meetings well-prepared and concerned with accountability. Second, women behave in ways that do not comply with traditional norms. Crazy to think we know what we are doing, right?
I appreciate that reports are funded and ran on these topics, but the bottom-line of this? RRA found, overall, no significant perception differences between men and women leaders. But they did find one exception... Women leaders are outperforming their male counterparts in coaching and development. I'm not trying to poke fun at this stuff. I'm not at all. But when I see these findings I am pretty sure Stephanie Bogan , Erin Botsford, CFP? , Judy Hoberman , Lauren LaForge , Sarah M Cain, ACC, CBC, CPC , Penny Phillips already know this and have built businesses knowing this very thing is true.
Who has thoughts to share?
What are your opinions?
Where can we make the biggest change happen first?
When can we expect something to be different?
How can we get started?
Why should others care about this stuff going on?
I work on these kinds of matters and more in the Females and Finance Community and welcome thought leaders who are in or serve the professionals of financial services and financial technology to reach out, join, and let's build a better landscape of professionals.
Stay well, friends.
