We’ve Got Your Live Music

The live music season is in full swing. Don’t miss your opportunity to see local acts performing around Northwest Arkansas this month.

  • Live Music Bentonville July 28, 8 - 10 pm

Meet us at The Hub Bike Lounge and Bar for live music featuring Gardensnakes and Idle Valley. Live Music Bentonville is CACHE’s ongoing series of pop-up live music events around downtown Bentonville.

  • Railyard Live Jazz & Blues Block Party August 4-5, 5 - 10:30 pm

Music Moves is partnering with Brian Crowne and the NWA Jazz Society for a Block Party in downtown Rogers.

Live performances by: Abstract Citizen, Dawn Cate Band, King Cabbage Brass Band, Michael Fields Jr., Austin Farnam Trio, Jeremy Thomas Quartet, YoungJoo Song Quartet, Jimmie Bratcher, and Rodney Block.

  • Recess Fest August 11, 8 - 11:30 pm

Backroom, a Northwest Arkansas dance pop-up for music lovers, is taking over CACHE Studios to present Recess Fest. Recess Fest promises to be the back-to-school bash you always wish you had. Live performances by Crush, Idle Valley, Midnight Wagon, and Olympics. ?

  • Groundwaves August 15, 6 pm

Our hip-hop open mic night returns to The Medium on August 15. As always participation is free and anyone who performs is eligible for a mentorship session with program mentor and creator, Murs. Everyone is invited to attend and support performers.

  • Anvil Fest August 18-19, 6 pm

Anvil Fest is a two-day showcase at CACHE Studios that will feature artists who have performed on The Anvil Sessions. The Anvil Sessions is a community connection event designed to connect local artists with the resources they need to grow. Live music featuring Ashtyn Barbaree, Jess Harp, The Big Sad, Sad Palomino, John Charles, The Phlegms, TV Preacher, Fight Dream, Bellwether Sirens, and Protohive.

Anvil Fest is a fundraiser for The Anvil Sessions.?The entire event is FREE to the public; however, donations are encouraged.

Survey Participants Needed

Researchers at the U of A are recruiting subjects for a paid research study ($50) examining the brain and creative process. The study will take (on average) 2 hours in-person where you will wear an EEG cap while you think of ideas and draw. To see if you are eligible, complete a survey. Questions? Email Kim Awa.

Congratulations, Opera in the Ozarks!

The Eureka Springs-based opera company was recently featured on the Today Show.

Opera in the Ozarks recently received a $34 million grant from the Walton Family Foundation to design and construct a new facility. The new construction will include a 300-seat theater, rehearsal hall, practice rooms, expanded production shops, and facility housing.

Congratulations to Opera in the Ozarks and to Eureka Springs, which was described by Today show hosts as a “darling community.”

The Fall 2023 Art Walk, presented by Downtown Springdale Alliance seeks artist participants. Art Walk will take place September 14 and 15 from 4 - 8 pm and September 16 from 12 -6 pm. Deadline to apply: July 28

Our Art, Our Region, Our Time, a group exhibition at Walton Arts Center seeks submissions from local artists. Deadline to apply: August 1

The Big Free Picture

The Big Free Picture?by the Momentary artist in residence, Rumwolf, is a multi-disciplinary portrait of a working-class family in Northwest Arkansas. Using photography, storytelling, song, video, and?performance, this installation wrestles with the nature of living across the tracks from the American dream.?On view through October 15

Likewise Bazaar

Bring what you don’t need, grab what you do!

The Likewise Bazaar is held on the final Saturday of each month and features local food vendors, artisans, and hands-on activities and workshops. All are welcome to participate. August 26, 10 am - 2 pm
