From this news article, I am attempting to connect a few of the IAQG 9100 series of standard requirements
- The supplier demonstration on rate and capability readiness can be connected with the Customer identified Special Requirements (Refer 8.2.2 of AS 9100) and Production Process Verification (Refer 8.5.1.3 of AS 9100) process.
- The actions related to parts on time availability from the suppliers and sub-suppliers, buffer stocks/inventory etc can be connected with the Project Management / Program Management / AS 9145 APQP & PPAP requirements (Refer 8.1 of AS 9100)
- The more no of work transfers (Due to the pandemic crisis) need to manage in line with 8.1 of AS 9100 and AS 9145 requirements.
The interesting fact is that In 2020, Airbus experienced 370 quality problems from their suppliers, equivalent to 1.6 per day, of which half had some impact on aircraft and Airbus has given suppliers "72 hours max" to contain any new quality defects once they have been discovered. The reaction to this quality problem is directly connected with the 8.7, 10.2 of the AS 9100.
But we need to relook into the process of Operational Risk Management (8.1.1 of AS 9100) and the established controls to prevent the delivery of non-conforming products to the customer. (8.1 j of AS 9100).
