They say, surround yourself with good people…?
It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to Grace Smyth, a full time solicitor in Thompson Smith and Puxon’s employment team. Grace has hit the ground running, within her first week at TSP she attended the Royal Courts of Justice in London at short notice but was still able to see the claim against our client struck out with a favourable award of costs. She has been working with me on a range of complex and straightforward matters and has made an immediate impact on what the team can offer.
Grace joins me, Sam Welham and Heidi, our Legal Secretary, at a very exciting time as we launch our Together4/HR and Law Employment service. Together4/ is a new way that we are helping clients manage operational risks by providing them with a suite of maintained employment documents, letters, contracts etc. alongside direct contact with the team for the times you need some extra support.
For more information about our ‘HR Buddy’ or ‘HR Partner’ memberships, visit our website here (https://www.tsplegal.com/service/employment-law-business/together4/)
Legal 500 has also recognised us again as being in Tier 1' and my ‘Leading Individual’ status continues although our world seems to be somewhat jinxed these days;

...just as we thought we’d seen off austerity, we faced Brexit then came Covid, overlapping with the Ukraine. Today we face a cost of living crisis and a far from satisfactory economic situation. The current situation will affect our staff and the way we seek to manage them. The recruitment market, stagnant for a long time, will pick up rapidly as individuals address their personal financial situations and companies either will be able to expand, or forced to contract in light of market changes. There have been no significant changes to employment laws so we are confident we know the likely outcomes of most situations but one difference to pre-covid times is the state of the justice system; our Tribunals are playing ‘catch up’ (and not winning). This has led to a change in the tactics of Claimant behaviour (to be more aggressive) so for the time being, almost all litigation is destined to end with a negotiated settlement.
Grace, Sam or I will be delighted to offer our assistance now or in the future, so you too have good people on your side; please do not hesitate to be in touch.
